Chapter 5 - New Beginnings

1008 Words
The next few hours passed in a complete blur. Arriving home, telling the pack, my father, the celebration. By the time I could catch my breath I was standing in my bedroom with a suitcase and a couple of packing boxes slowly rolling up my posters. It was all so strange… how in the space of a week I’d gone from accepting that I might be mate-less and focusing on my studies to being shipped off to live with him. Well, shipped off wasn’t the right word. “We’re going to live with our mate.” my wolf sang in my head, Isolde was practically doing backflips in my mind out of joy. It made me happy to see her so joyful.  I didn’t have to pack everything, it wasn’t like I was leaving forever and I could never come back… Just enough to live my daily life and get me through university. This meant all of my study materials and more smart clothes than casual.  A knock at the door distracted me from my thoughts. “George! Come to see me off?” I turned to look at the man standing in my doorway. He sighed and came in, a book shaped package in his hands.  “I brought you a going away gift, thought it might give you something to remember us by.”  He holds the package out to me with a somewhat sad looking smile.  “Remember you? Who said anything about me forgetting you all. You’re my family,” I sit down on my bed and unwrap the present. It was a gorgeous notebook, wrapped in crystal blue leather with gold edging. “Oh George… it’s stunning. Thank you.” After placing the notebook down on the bed I turn to pull him into a tight hug. He’d clearly thought it through, something I would use and enjoy each time. I sit back again after a couple moments to admire it again.  “Hopefully it doesn’t get lost amongst all of your other notebooks. Assuming you’ll keep up your studies that is.” He gives me a questioning look with this, then looks at the boxes full of books. “I’ve worked too hard to get to where I am to not keep it up. It’s not like the new pack is too far from the Uni either. There’s bound to be plenty of nooks I can find to study in.”  George nods, then stands.  “Get packing munchkin, we’re leaving first thing in the morning.” He ruffles my hair before heading out of my room. With a sigh I flop back onto the bed, staring at my new notebook with a smile. The next morning came all too quickly, and was filled with tears, goodbye hugs and pancakes. I tried my best not to cry as my two boxes and suitcase got loaded into the car and I said goodbye to my friends. It wasn’t like I’d be gone forever. My father and George drove me to the Ice Moon Pack, where we found James waiting at the gate.  “Hello Luna, welcome home,” He said with a smile, opening the car door for me. I thank him as I step out, taking in my surroundings. This was my new home. “Hello Beta, and you must be Freya’s father, the old Beta for the Crystal pack, it’s a pleasure Sir,” James held out his hand to shake my fathers. “We’ll look after your daughter.” He waved and a couple of people came to collect my boxes and case.  “I’m sure she’ll be safe here of all places. I need you to pass this letter onto your Alpha. It just explains a few things about Freya and her classes.” Father turned to give me a smile, I simply shook my head.  “I’m not a child dad.” “I know, I know. Just let me do this one last act as your father,” I sigh, but it’s not worth fighting this one. He pulls me into a hug. “We’ll go now. Make sure you call me and don’t be a stranger.”  “Of course not, safe journey back.” I wave them off as they get back into the car and drive off. “This way Luna, we’ll show you your room.”  The top floor of the pack house is reserved for the Alpha and his Luna and this pack house was no exception. James showed me up the stairs and into a beautiful bedroom. It had white walls, a grey carpet and teal highlights. A huge king size bed sat against the right wall with cushions and blankets galore. Floor to ceiling windows and access to a balcony lined the back wall. A large marble patterned desk sat against one of the windows with a few notebooks and packets of pens sat on it. It had a white filing cabinet to the side of it with the same teal painted onto the front of the drawers. On the left was a couch and a couple arm chairs looking at a TV. Next to this was double doors leading through to a walk in closet and en suite bathroom.  “Is this… the Alpha’s room?” I look around in complete awe “This is yours Luna, the Alphas room is next door. He had this prepared for you as he often works late or through the night. He thought you would appreciate your own space.” My smile falters. “When do I get to see him?” James frowns, there must be something going on. “Not today Luna, he’s away visiting other packs. I’ll leave you to get settled in. My mate had some clothes prepared for you, she designed this room actually. Your things are in the closet. Just call someone when you want your dinner.” He gave me a gentle smile before heading out and closing  the door.  My first day here, and Andrew wasn’t even at the pack house. Nevermind that, but we wouldn’t even be sharing a room. That being said… I wandered over to the desk, running a hand over its surface, it was a stunning room. I laughed a little to myself, I had never seen such luxury. Even if it is a gorgeous room, would it make up for not sleeping in my mates arms?
