The room in Lena’s apartment was small but quiet, lit only by the soft glow of a single bedside lamp. David lay on his back, one arm behind his head, the other wrapped around Micah as she curled against his side. Her head rested on his chest, her fingers tracing slow circles over his heart. The rain had long stopped, leaving only the faint sound of distant traffic filtering through the window.
