A Luna's Touch

Aurora P.O.V "Alpha Reilly, Luna Reyna. Congratulations! you have a beautiful, healthy baby boy" I looked into the big hazel eyes of the child in my arms. He cooed softly as I placed him gently into his mother’s arms. She took in his smell and exhaled deeply relaxing her body. "You did so well Luna Reyna" I said stepping back to give the new family space.  "Oh darling, he is perfect" Luna Reyna said reaching out for her husband who was closely by her side. Alpha Reilly nodded before finding his voice "I'm a dad, I can't believe it" his voice was pinched and i could almost imagine him fighting back tears.   "He is such a handsome little guy! - you did so amazing my love" Alpha Reilly said placing a soft kiss on his Luna's head before turning to me smiling "Dr Hammond, thank you for everything that you have done, my wife and I can't thank you enough".   I stayed there for another hour or so helping the Luna deliver her placenta and then cleaning and checking her obs. Another half hour showing her how to attach her son, who they named Connor to the breast. I was losing track of time. I glanced over to the clock 3.45am 'crap' I mentally said I am tired. I then quickly showed the Alpha how to swaddle Connor securely before finally excusing myself. I closed the door gently and headed downstairs to the kitchen. after the 12-hour delivery I was famished I needed some food in my stomach. But this wasn't my house, nor my pack. My pack was the West Howlers and they were at least a two-hour drive away. I arrived here yesterday morning just in time for Luna Reyna who was going into labour. She wasn't due for another 4 weeks and even then they did have their own pack doctor just until recently. Doctor Frederick from this pack, the Silver claw pack. I was the only other non-human doctor close by so they had no choice but to ask my Alpha for help, obviously he sent me just in time too.  Alpha Jaxon was the leader of my pack, him and his Luna Meeka had only one child a spoilt brat of a son who soon would take over the pack as the new Alpha. Rhett Mclaren - we are similar in age 25 as we grew up in the same pack. Being the son of an alpha he was bathed in riches and admiration. Me being a foster child with no real blood line connection was an absolute disgrace, an outcast. I was eventually adopted by two wolf shifters who couldn't have their own children. My stomach growled and I moaned rubbing the area to no hope of relief. "Where is everyone?" I said to myself barely a whisper. "They are either asleep or getting kinky" I spun around to face who spoke. I mentally kicked myself for not smelling him there in the first place. He was handsome with a heavy jaw line, brown eyes and blond wavy hair. He had a tattoo of a claw mark running along his neck. "Dr Hammond I take it?" he continued, he was undressing me with those chocolate eyes of his. I felt exposed. I composed my posture and stood straight "Yes, that's right and who are you if you don't mind me asking?" he was leaning against the door frame of the kitchen leading into the dining area. He smirked "My names Teddy I am Reilly's Beta he told me earlier that I need to take you to your room". I must have had a look of bewilderment on my face because he sensed my confusion. "Aah your room, it's really late..." he paused and looked at his watch with wide eyes "it's way to early to be up and I am guessing you don't want to drive back to you pack at this very moment. I mean you can if you want but across the road we have a beautiful house with a spare room set up all ready for you”. he was doing a sort of salute to the window. I looked out through the glass, sure enough there were beautiful tall mansions along the street. I guessed one of these he was gesturing at has a nice cosy bed waiting for me. I let out a tiny laugh "Yes, of course, sleep, yes I definitely need sleep before heading off" my stomach made a noise and it must have been loud because the handsome Teddy focused on my belly. I blush. "Aaah I was hoping I could get something to eat before I go to sleep, I am kinda hungry".  "No problemo" Teddy went and opened the fridge door, took out some bread, butter, a bowl which I assumed was salad and some wrapped up salami. He set it all on the kitchen island where a huge wooden chopping board was laying. He flicked on a switch by the table and a bright light illuminated both of us. I could see he’s features more clearly; he was very beautiful. “So, Doctor Hammond tell me about yourself?” Teddy said buttering the bread. I was silent for a moment and then remembered I haven’t had a decent conversation for a while. “You can call me Aurora… Well what would you like to know? I am the only doctor from the West Howlers pack and maybe the only one for miles that is non-human as far as I know” “Mmhm that must earn you lot of respect in your pack” he replied, more of a statement than a question. “I don’t know about that, I left the pack when I was quiet young to find myself and my Alpha wouldn’t allow it. In the end I decided to convince him by means of a law degree. In the end I became a doctor instead. He didn’t trust I would come back. But here I am” “And here you are” Teddy responded slicing the sandwich into a perfect triangle and placing them on a plate. There was an eerie silence and he motioned for my hand, I flinched and pulled away. He smiled gently “Come” He said and placed his hand on the curve of my back. Carrying the plate, he guided me to the dining room. A long elegant 20-seater table was situated in the middle with a beautiful chandelier hovering over the top. He pulled a chair out for me, what a gentleman I wouldn’t get this service back at home and this guy is a Beta. A Beta is the next to the Alpha, they are strong but not as strong as an Alpha. I sat down on the chair; I was extremely exhausted I almost forgot how hungry I was. “Eat” he said setting the plate down and walking back into the kitchen, he returned with a glass of soda water for me. I was already halfway through the delicious sandwich. “What about you Teddy, your turn now.” I smirked “Tell me about yourself?” Teddy took in a deep breath “Well I grew up here and Alpha Reilly’s my best mate, so I was grateful when he appointed me his Beta.” He was drawing circles on the table then he locked his gaze on to me. “Have you got a mate Aurora?” Well that was straight forward, I almost choked. He chuckled. “Not that it’s really any of your business but no” I was taken back by his sudden bluntness. He relaxed into his chair not taking his eyes of me. “I don’t have one either, it gets really lonely. All my friends have pretty much found their mates. I just want one for myself. I want to feel what they feel” Teddy said. “What the possessiveness?" I replied in a hoarse whisper, clearing my throat "you’re not missing out on much, not that I would know but I am a doctor and I have seen the consequences of a mate bond, it’s scary as hell and I hope I don’t ever have to feel it” I said drinking the last of my soda water. Teddy’s eyes widened; the look of surprise was worth it. I backed my words. I didn’t want a mate, ever. I saw how my adoptive father went crazy and suicidal after his wife, mate and my adopting mother died. It took him many years to become sane again. He forgot all about looking after me and I was sent to the Omega quarters where I became a servant. Omegas are like the pack slaves the lowest class. We weren’t allowed to shift into our wolves or go for runs. In the end most of us forget how to even shift and we don’t hear from our wolf anymore they go quiet and nonexistent. And because I came of age when I was an omega, I couldn’t transform I was not allowed. I felt my wolf from within calling me to come out. I was 17 when the change was happening, but I was beaten so bad by some of the pack members that she wouldn’t come out and I was too scared to shift, ever. At the age of 25 I still have not shifted, not once. I might as well be human. And that’s why I believe I blended so well in University with the humans. I snapped back to the present; Teddy was suddenly by my side he placed a hand on mine, he caught my eyes. My green eyes stared back into his brown. He ran his fingers through my long raven black hair I can smell his cologne it was incredibly enticing a mixture of spice and berries. We stared at each other for a while, stuck in a whirlwind of time. he's eyes glazed over a little as he grazed my lips with his thumb. Fuck is he going to kiss me?
