Postscript The Syrian War began as a peasant protest. It became a conflict between radical and moderate forces (ISIS and the Free Syrian Army), and Sunnis and Shiites (Iran and Hezbollah against Saudi Arabia and Turkey), and has led to tensions between the East and West (Russia and the United States). And then China got involved. From a humanitarian perspective, half a million Syrians have perished. Ten million more have become displaced. Most reside in Turkey, homeless, hopeless, and in poor health.
