Chapter 39
At precisely 17:00, Air Force One departs from Incirlik Air Base and climbs high above Adana. Margaret and Ivan sit opposite each other and stare out of their windows while the base disappears through the clouds. Lost in their thoughts, each tries to understand the meeting with President Ozdemir.
After the plane reaches altitude and levels, Margaret says, “I don’t understand how the President knew Amira’s name. Nothing makes sense. Does it to you?”
“I’ve tried to figure it out, but the only thing I can come up with is that they must have planted a bug when I met with Ozdemir in person.”
“What do you mean?”
