45 THE GIRLS

Late at night Elsa and Lionel went to the living room to watch a movie since it had been a little stressful day for the girl and that would distract her a bit.

"How about the movie?". Asked Lionel trying to find out how she felt.

"It's fun, but I haven't been able to focus much". Said Elsa.

"Don't worry, Elsa, you will be safe here. Enjoy a little”. Was Lionel's recommendation.

They could only see a few minutes of the movie because suddenly Corrine opened the door, she couldn’t hide her surprise when she saw that Lionel was accompanied by a beautiful young woman, the first thing she thought was that Lionel was conquering.

"Good evening Larson". Said Corrine very seriously.

"Hello Mary, I want to introduce you to a friend, her name is Elsa". Said Lionel.

"Hello Elsa, are you from the town?". Corrine asked trying to find out the origin of the supposed new love of her housemate.

"Hi Mary, I'm not from here". Replied Elsa who felt a little jealous because Lionel's partner turned out to be more beautiful than she thought, she immediately believed that this woman was guilty of Lionel's rejection of her.

"Elsa will spend a few days here, she will be my guest". Said Lionel without further explanation because after all, he had rented the villa and he had the right to decide who to invite.

"Sounds great, welcome Elsa". Corrine said a little surprised by the event.

"Mary, we’re watching a movie, if you want you can join us". Was Lionel's invitation.

"Sounds great, I leave my things in my room and I'll go down with you". Said Corrine who thought that this would be a good opportunity to know more about the girl that Lionel had just invited.

"Perfect, here we will be".

"Why do you invite her to watch the movie with us if she’s a stranger to you?". Elsa asked who was trying to claim Lionel how kind she was with that girl.

"Precisely that’s it, I want to be nice, it’s everything". Said Lionel a little exalted by the attitude that Elsa was taking.

"Whatever you say". Elsa said without believing Lionel much the explanation.

At that moment Corrine came down to join the plan they had; however, she noticed the tense atmosphere that was there.

"Which are you watching?". Corrine asked.

"It's a movie about an American football player, Elsa loves that sport". Replied Lionel.

"Sounds great". Corrine said, puzzled by all the attention he was having with that girl. "Do you want something to drink?".

"No". Elsa said a little rudely.

"I want some refreshment". Said Lionel.

"It's a surprise you're not ordering wine". Corrine said teasingly.

"Not every day I can drink". Answered Lionel smiling.

Elsa felt a little uncomfortable since the way of acting of Lionel and Corrine wasn’t of two people who weren’t friends, so, she decided to leave the room

"I’ll go to my room".

"Is something wrong with you Elsa?". Corrine asked.

"No, I'm just going to take medicine". Said Elsa, who didn't think Mary was very nice. However, at that moment Corrine became familiar to her, she thought she already knew that girl from somewhere.

"Don't be late". Corrine said again in order to see the girl's fury.

Elsa didn’t answer and went up to her room, where she threw herself on the bed and observed the place where she would stay, it was a very narrow room compared to the one she had, it was also a bit dark because there was only a window from which only a valley was observed. She didn’t know when her perfect life had been destroyed, she only thought about how very lonely she felt at that precise moment, she shed tears as a way to console herself.

"Elsa, are you there? Is something the matter?". Lionel said as he knocked on the door of the room.

Elsa wiped away her tears a little and opened the door.

"No Larson, I'm fine".

"We’re waiting for you downstairs".

"I don't want to watch the movie anymore; I'd rather be alone".

"Come on Elsa, I don't like seeing you like this”.

Elsa felt a little offended with Lionel since she felt that those words were false because only a few minutes ago she had seen him very happy with her villager.

"Don’t be a liar".

"Why do you treat me like that?".

"THIS IS HOW I TREAT THE LIARS!" she said a little louder. "That girl downstairs isn’t just a guest, she’s very special to you, don't think I don't realize how you look at her".

“You're wrong with me Elsa, the last thing I want is to do someone feels uncomfortable. I’m not that kind of person".

"I know those kinds of girls; they just want to get into your bed. And I say I know because I’ve seen that girl somewhere”.

“You’re very paranoid, I don't blame you, but please try to calm down. No one here wants to sleep with me”.

"I do". Elsa replied revealing to Lionel one of her wishes.

"I don't know what happens to you Elsa, it's okay to stay here regretting it. I don’t care. If you want my help, I'll be downstairs”. Said Lionel flatly, since he wasn’t willing to deal with Elsa's jealousy.

Elsa didn't go down that night anymore, she stayed in her room thinking about her life, her father, and how bad she felt in Lionel's house.

The next morning Lionel brought breakfast to her room.

"Elsa, I want to apologize to you, I shouldn't have treated you like that last night".

"Don't worry, Lionel. I guess I'm a little nervous about everything that has happened". Elsa said very seriously.

"I'm serious, I don't want us to be in a fight, even if you don't want to believe me now, you really are very important to me".

"I don't know Larson; I feel like an intruder in this house".

"Why?".

"That girl who lives here with you doesn't like me".

"How can you say that? You were only with her for 5 minutes”.

Elsa didn’t know how to answer Lionel's question, deep down she knew that she was jealous of Mary, she really was a beautiful woman and for the first time she felt overshadowed by another woman, so much so that she believed that Lionel was really in love with her.

“You're right, but I refuse to talk to her".

"Mary isn’t a bad person, she’s more fun than you think".

"Sure". She said ironically.

“I have an idea, the three of us go out for a walk today. You know her and if you don't like her, I'll ask her to go to a hotel myself”.

Elsa was quite surprised at what Lionel was willing to do for her, so she decided to accept his invitation.

"Agree".

"That's the Elsa that I know, I'll go tell Mary".

Lionel immediately set out to find Mary who was in the kitchen preparing some things for her breakfast.

“Mary, Elsa wants to go out for a walk for a while. Would you like the three of us to go for a walk?”.

"You’re sure you want to invite me; it seems that your friend doesn't like me very much".

"She herself told me to invite you for a walk". Lionel lied.

"Okay, I'll go with you". In the background Corrine wanted to investigate who Lionel's female company was about, she didn't like that girl much either.

"Perfect, after having breakfast we will go". Said Lionel.

After that, he went back to Elsa to inform her of the plan for that day.

"Elsa as soon as we all have breakfast; we will go out in my car".

"Where will we go?".

"I'm not going to tell you; it will be a surprise".

Elsa was pleased with that detail about Lionel and thought she had misjudged him the night before, after all, he was risking her life to save her from her father's enemies, and she was just acting like a whimsical teenager.

"Thanks, Larson. I must be the one to apologize for how rude I’ve been to you”.

“Don't think about it, let's disconnect for a moment from all worries. Today we will have fun!”.

"With you, I’ll surely have a lot of fun". Replied Elsa

"Prepare yourself then".
