59 THE LETTER

1293 Words
"What you got for me?". Lionel asked when he entered the bar without wanting to waste time, lately he had become very impatient and irritated, it seemed as if all he cared about was knowing Corrine's true identity, in order to do so, he would remove all the barriers that were they passed by the front and that was what stressed him out the most. "Don't be like that, I really have good news for you". Beau told Lionel, as Beau had always been very carefree, he had already gotten used to Lionel's mood swings. "Tell me, I’m eager to know, maybe good news will take away this back pain that’s killing me". Lionel said as he massaged his shoulders trying to reach the middle of his back, which had plagued him for several days. "Can you see this guy over here?". Beau said to Lionel, pointing to a person, who wasn’t very clear who he was because of the blurry images, but when Beau found something, it was surely something important. "What bad images! Where did you get them from?”. Lionel asked. "From a surveillance camera, I asked the gang members to go up there and ask for copies of the last few weeks, apparently the owner is the father of one of my gang members and that's why he didn't put any problem". Beau explained fully. "And what does that guy have to do with the investigation of Elsa's kidnappers?". Lionel asked the most obvious thing that could emerge from the conversation, however, if something characterized Beau, it’s that he likes to go around the matter and if he got to those images, it’s because he had already done a first-rate and connected investigative work several links in the same chain. “Look at his arm, what do you see?”. Beau asked, and he froze with a stupid expression on his face, waiting for an answer from Lionel. "A tattoo?". Lionel asked that no matter how much he looked at the image he couldn't find anything more relevant. "A TATTOO!". And giving loud applause and turning in the chairs of the bar, he returned to the initial position and continued. "Look, I took the liberty of taking the photos of the corpses that you had brought me, most of them were unrecognizable, but they left physical characteristics of each one that could be compared". It was true that Beau owned those photos, Lionel before leaving the place of the great battle, he took photos of all the corpses looking for clues, the view was too disgusting, he had to make a great effort not to vomit, however, not having eaten for two days it help him hold the urge. "Now look at the tattoo of this arm that you gave me yourself". Lionel looked carefully at the photograph, it was very unpleasant, literally it was just that, an arm, apparently the rest of the body had been destroyed by the machine gun. "They are the same!". Lionel said realizing the track so great he had in his hands. "Exact! That means that he was one of your attackers and apparently they have a base in that warehouse you see there”. Beau said a little excited to have solved the puzzle. "And how do I get there?". Lionel asked anxiously, he really was prepared to end this situation once and for all. “Remember I told you I had news for you, not just one". Beau said he was already preparing Lionel for the most troublesome news. "I knew that not everything could be good. Spit it out!". "It’s true that this is the warehouse where your enemies are". Then Beau paused and continued. "But it's located in the area of the city that you don't control, I think it will be too troublesome trying to get in there". "Curse! Why does everything have to be so difficult and with the maximum effort?”. Lionel expressed with real frustration, it seemed that to reach any track he had to skirt three or four more problems to reach his goal. “Do you still have that boy from the suburbs? The new one, the one with everything, but he got into this because he wanted to be a gang member”. "Yes, I think that right now I have it downloading some boxes behind. What do you need him for?". Beau said a little worried because generally, Lionel's plans were never calm, they always brought with them a lot of danger and he feared for the life of that boy. "I’ll only use it as a messenger". "That reassures me, I thought you were going to use it as cannon fodder". Then Beau laughed out loud and, after venting his deep cravings for laughter, picked up the radio and called his subordinates. "Tell the new one to come!". Immediately a blond boy appeared, short, almost a pygmy, he had no sun marks, no scars, he hardly had a tattoo on his wrist and he looked recent. Apparently, the boy had never been in need as Lionel thought. "What can I do for you?". The boy said very nervously to Beau. "Nothing for me, it's for the boss". Saying this, Beau points to Lionel and he continues the conversation. "I want you to carry a message for me, it’s on the other side of the city, beyond where our territories reach". "It's not dangerous?". The boy asked impertinently. "Dude, you are in a gang, everything we do is dangerous". And after saying this, Lionel gave the boy such a gloomy smile that it made his hair stand on end. "Which is the message?". Asked the boy, wishing deeply that he could remember everything. "I won’t tell you; I just wrote it in this note, wait a moment". Lionel took the letter and folded it into an envelope, he didn’t have one on hand, so he sealed the letter with candle wax, of which there were many in the bar as flavorings, and later put his ring on the front so that your brand will remain. "This seal should only be broken by the head of the other gang, if you open it, he will surely kill you, so wear it carefully". "Yes sir!". He made a gesture similar to a military salute and ran away more from his fright than from his eagerness to fulfill Lionel's task. "Was the seal necessary? Didn't you find it a bit flamboyant?”. Beau asked that the scene had seemed tremendously comical. "No, I just didn't want him to read it, so I made him up about the stamp". They both laughed at what Lionel had done to the poor boy, but soon Lionel changed his face, he had to finalize the details of his strategy. "Now I need two of your most loyal and stealthy men, this mission is highly dangerous". Lionel said sternly. "And these so you want them, the boy was not part of your plan?". Beau asked that they were beginning to exasperate those sudden ideas that crossed Lionel's mind and that put the lives of his gang members at risk. "I just need them to be my plan b, if everything goes wrong tomorrow, at least we will have them to back us up". Lionel said to Beau, but the latter didn’t like the news at all, it sounded like there was going to be a battle and if Beau didn’t like it, it was to bring the war to the house and he wanted to protect the bar as much as he could. "Nothing to do, if I don’t pass them on to you, you will surely be responsible for causing more problems than you would if you had my help," Beau said resignedly, but in Lionel's gaze you could see an impressive momentum, like wanting to devour the world and that really scared Beau, but there was no turning back, the boy had already gone to deliver the letter.
