1353 Words
Meanwhile, in Villa Corrine she was hanging around the house, she went to bed to try to sleep, she washed clothes, she washed dishes, she ate, slept and shook, she did any housework that distracted her, however, she couldn’t turn her head away from the idea that Lionel had discovered her, until now, he hasn’t expressed his suspicions to her, but she is almost sure that he already suspects her, although she never had direct contact with his men during the operation, it was too strange that they did absolutely no harm to them. Why didn't it occur to one of his agents that the target might suspect her? If they had thought about it, they surely would have used an alibi, they would have taken Corrine to 'r**e her', or so Corrine would have said to Lionel when he saw her, but it was too late, the operation ended and they were unharmed. Suddenly car doors were heard to close, Corrine didn’t want him to know that she was there, so she hid inside the closet that was under the stairs, it was spacious and clean enough, since she cleaned it very often herself, she quickly settled into a backless chair inside and waited for them to enter, quickly, heard the keys go into the door lock and unlock the door with the annoying sound of rusty hinges, heard the footsteps of two people Lionel had surely arrived with Elsa. At those moments Corrine approached the door to see through the doorknob, Elsa had already settled in the cabinet and both had carelessly thrown their belongings on the dining room, which surely scratched him, but that was the least of the problems for she ran now, even though it bothered her. Later Lionel hurried up the stairs, jumping from two steps to get faster, from where he was, she could hear almost anything in the house, thanks to the fact that the room had ventilation ducts that connected to the air conditioning of the entire villa; From there he realized that Lionel not only arrived at his room, he also opened the door to her room, surely verifying that he wasn’t at home. Once he finished his inquiries at the top, he went down just as quickly as he got up and sat next to Elsa. Corrine didn't care so much to see them, but to listen to them, so she put her ear to the closed door. "It appears that we are alone". Lionel said, his voice soft and smooth, apparently, he had inspected the top, but he still wasn't sure if they were completely alone. "What are we going to do now?". Elsa asked that she had no plan for Lionel to end the people who threatened her and Mr. Einstein. "I don't know yet, I don't have anything planned, but believe me, I'm working hard to find out that would be the best move against them". They? Who are they and why was Lionel thinking of an attack on those people, Corrine's ear tightened to listen as much as possible. "Sorry, I think it's my fault for not paying more attention to Dad's political gatherings. If I had paid enough attention, we would surely already know his identity." Corrine was biting her nails, she was almost one hundred percent sure that they were talking about her and her nerves were playing bad times, so much that she moved me with a crash and made some things fall that was on the sideboard, they sounded so loud that they resonated throughout the house, and surely alerted Lionel and Elsa. "What was that?". Elsa said fearfully, she was already scared enough by the attack she had suffered and by the sudden departure of Mr. Einstein who knows where; so, she didn’t want to be attacked again by those bandits, she wouldn’t resist him, at least not her mind and her heart. "Could it be that they came for us?". Elsa said through tears, thinking that their lives were in danger again, she was getting a little hysterical. "Don't worry, Elsa, I'll take care of it". When Lionel said this, he took the umbrella that was on the coat rack with his right hand, surely he was willing to defend himself with what was at hand, so he didn’t mind using the umbrella, with a slow and discreet step, he began to walk to the room where Corrine was hiding, he was approaching slowly, but she knew he was going directly to her, her heart began to beat very strongly if he found her hidden there, what would she say? That she was cleaning that closet thoroughly, so if so, why didn't she go out to say hello when they got there? Surely she was in a very disadvantageous situation, Lionel was only five steps away, and Corrine ran out of options, she began to think frantically about what she could do, maybe she could escape through the air conditioning but it’s too small for her, she cannot go through there, no windows, but it was too late, Lionel was already too close, he was about to open the door, when suddenly a mouse shot out from under the door that made Lionel jump and Elsa immediately screamed. "A RAT, A RAT!”. Corrine opened her eyes and didn’t believe what was happening, surely Elsa would have screamed less if it were bandits. "Just a damn rat! Here are many; I have to call an exterminator". Lionel said slowly moving away from the door where Corrine was, she was saved by chance, but luckily for her it happened. "I lost the desire to eat". Elsa said, breathing slightly from the scare she had been given. "We went for a drink?". She asked Lionel. "Yes, my hunger was also lifted, let's go to the bar". She proposed to Elsa, so the two took their coats and personal belongings, left the house, and left again in Lionel's truck. After that, Corrine waited around 5 minutes to make sure there was no one, then she sneaked out of the small room, wanted to be as quiet as possible, so she took off her shoes and sneaked barefoot to avoid making noise. Once she made sure that she wouldn’t be discovered, she began to walk normally, she held her breath and then strongly dismissed all the curses that occurred to her, soon she took her cell phone and dialed her office number. "LICB, a pleasure for me to assist you. How can I help you?". Asked a low-ranking receptionist, Corrine was unable to call her team directly because her phone was looted by the bandits who kidnapped them, so she lost all the numbers. "It's me, hand me over to the deputy director". Corrine had no time to lose, but the receptionist who had never dealt with Corrine. "Please, I need you to give me your ID, to pass the request to the secretary and she will direct the call if she considers it necessary". The receptionist said doing her job as best she could. "I’m your boss, the director, and if you don't move me to the deputy director soon, I’ll soon stop being your boss". Corrine said threateningly to her subordinate. But it was really very effective because he immediately started ringing the phone and quickly answered. "Hello?". The deputy director said. "Hey, I need you to prepare for my arrival". Corrine said not wanting to waste time. "Director right now". Then she paused and continued. "For what is this?". Well, it was unusual for an agent in the middle of a mission to return to the headquarters. "I’m your director, I don't have to explain, but I’ll tell you that I still have to go and fix some issues". Then she hung up and no longer being that hectic night, she went to bed with concern in mind about who they were talking about.
