Monica Elizabeth Blake
Monica’s POV I always get what I want. It’s been that way, since I was first born. It was always about me. Yet , while I’m sitting here watching my sister get married, I can’t help but feel bad for her. Catherine has always gotten my scraps. She was the second born, and not wanted, but my parents kept her anyway. She was treated to a normal, basic life while I lived in the lap of luxury. She had her basic needs met, and that was all. You know if I was in her place I would be throwing an tantrum, the likes of which the world has never seen. But,no. Sweet, gentle, and grateful for all that was given to her Catherine accepted all that life gave to her. So here I am in my 20th year of life, watching my sister in her basic white dress. Basic white shoes, holding a discount bouquet marry something (or should I say someone) that life has dished to her again. Life gave Catherine, Clark. The wrong neighborhood kid, that made all these promises to Catherine growing up, and she believed every one of them. Hook-line-sinker. He was from a moderate family, who made a moderate income, and had no leg up in society what so ever. It was almost sickening listening to them while we were growing up. Clark promising to marry Catherine, and to give her a life we’re she would want for nothing. To buy her a castle fit for a princess, blah, blah, blah. Whatever, even at an early age I knew bullshit when I saw and heard it. My parents didn’t put up much of a fight for Catherine not to marry Clark, she was basic, and so was Clark. According to my parents they were a match made in heaven, and now they had someone to unload their burden on. It was comical, watching Catherine tell my parents that they didn’t need to pay for everything because she didn’t want a big wedding. That is how we ended up at the courthouse. “You may now kiss the bride”. I’m taken out of my thoughts as I watch Catherine and Clark share their first kiss as husband and wife. “Finally”, I thought. I have my own life and plans to get on with. I walk out of the courthouse as fast as possible, not even waiting for the newlyweds and all the parents. I’m already to close to being late, and I can’t keep Julius waiting for me. You see, I had my own man and he was everything my parents promised and more. Julius was from a rich family, with plenty of connections, and was already in line to inherit his father multimillion corporation. I was so close to living a life of carefree living that I couldn’t wait. Catherine didn’t know what she was missing, she was a goody two shoes. Telling our parents how her and Clark were both going to work, love, and build a strong foundation to their relationship that nothing could break it. She is so naïve that it should bother me, but it doesn’t. She can be stupid all she wants. Everyone know it survival of the fittest, and that you should work smarter not harder. Whatever, her life wasn’t mine to live, I had my own plans that involve me snagging a rich playboy, before anyone else can.
