Cornered by the Bear
“We need rest,” said Aggie. Talon knew she was right, he was in somewhat bad shape and this place seemed as good as any to stop for a while. The bear was gone and there was no reason to go on. In fact, he had come to the point that he didn’t know if he could find reason enough to keep moving at all. He was at the end of his life as far as he could see. This dead end had slipped up on him and maybe for good reason. He had cheated death at the river but only to end his fight here.
“Aggie, I’m all played out,” he said. “I think you are right we should rest here.”
The floor at some place in the lower tunnel had changed again to a soft dusty sand and when Talon sat down on it, he was surprised at how soft it felt. He felt for Aggie and put his arm around her
