He had lost his bearings for a moment but as his mind cleared he realized that this could not be, him and her. He was still an Indian and even if she wanted to be with him, her family would surely hate them always, even if only in secret. As he pulled himself reluctantly away he sat for a moment on the little shelf and wished there was something more he could do to improve their situation but all he could think of was to keep moving. Aggie took Talon’s hand in both of hers and pulled herself as close as she could get to him. They sat with their backs against the wall for a minute until Talon gathered his thoughts.
