XIOF COURSE, MOVING FROM non-fiction to fiction was easier by writing Science Fiction, and then Fantasy. Of course, this meant a lot of learning, since the best stories of all time had romance, mystery, and action all in the same story. But these were all different story structures, so it meant weaving a complicated plot through all these characters. And frankly, I didn't know how I did it. I studied stacks of books on how to write and finally came across one author who said that writing was "90% crud." I couldn't write for days after that. Because it struck home.
