Kaia POV The moments seems to stay still as I blinked rapidly. Everything in the world feels like a pause,like it is forbidden to move on. I stared at his light brown eyes and energetic butterflies danced uninterrupted in my belly. His eyebrows are dark, too much for a man. His face was as light as the sun,his skin looks so spotless and clean and I was forced to wonder if he is a demigod. I cannot blink. My brain seems to want to capture this moment forever,like an image that needs to be photographed, kept some somewhere in my collection of photo album. “Kaia” I suddenly heard my name. Oh, I'm still on earth?. “Kaia, why are you taking so long? How long would it take you to bring the chart? Doctor nelson is waiting” Olivia said and I turned to look at her just then. “Oh. Doctor Adrien, oh I'm so sorry “ Olivia said as soon as she spotted the guy who bumped into me. He was now arranging the files in his hands as while Olivia scampered to help him with the files on the floor. He did not say anything as he patted the files and walked away with a smile, his white coat looks so spotless as he walked away sexily. Gosh. Those eyes!! I trailer his retreating figure as he entered the elevator. “Who is he?” I found myself asking Olivia absentmindedly as my gaze was still fixed on him. He has my whole attention. “I can't believe you are here drooling on a man when doctor nelson is waiting for you, I had to come get you. How did you even bumped into him?” Olivia asked and I scoffed. How could she insinuate that I bumped into him? “He did” I defended myself. He bumped into me” I said while she took the chart from me. “Who is he?” I found myself asking again as I adjusted my scrub but she ignores me, increasing her pace as she walked into the emergency unit. Doctor nelson is checking the man's vitals when we walked in. He seems to be doing that every moment. “Why did it take you so long doctor kaia. Its been over five minutes, you know every seconds counts right “ doctor nelson said as he updated the chart. Am I getting a query on my first day of housemanship? “Yes sir, I know” I said sounding prompt. Okayyy. I am Kaia salvador and I am a freshly graduated medical student. I graduated top of my set and today is my first day as an house officer. I am twenty five, clumsy, crazy, goofy, beautiful and a short girl but I have a beautiful face and body even though my brother never gets tired of teasing me about my shortness. Joseph-baltimore hospital has always been my dream workplace right from medical school curtsey of my role model, Doctor Joseph-baltimore. He is one of the reason while I kept pushing all through medical school. He inspires me so much and he is the founder of Joseph-baltimore hospital. Medical school was tedious, like it always is. Despite having always been a top student, I was just barely able to scale through medical school: sleepless nights,complex study schedules and little time for relaxation but it was a great experience. At least, I would be a medical doctor just like my Dad use to desire. My late dad wanted to be a medical doctor but he could not due to financial constraints, he was a nurse instead. Back in high school day, I worked so hard, passed my UCAT and made sure to have a perfect score. I was lucky to be awarded a scholarship that covered all of my tuition and needs much to the relief of my struggling mom. My career would have been a mere dream, never to see the light of the day like my father's if I had not secured a scholarship. So, today being the first day of my housemanship after almost seven years of training and studying, I am glad to be in my most revered hospital. “He seems to be having some difficulties in breathing. I don't know why that is happening. I think we need to conduct another test on him” doctor nelson said jolting me out of my thoughts. During my interview, doctor nelson was my interviewer and he didn't spare me a steal to the questions he asked me. I almost had a hard time answering the questions if not that I had vigorously prepared from home. “Joseph-baltimore hires the best, we can't afford to commit our patients into the hands of unqualified health practitioners” he had said when he saw my countenance as he questioned me. “His urine has some blood in it this morning and he seems to be in pain in the abdomen” Doctor Olivia said and I nodded. “I see” Doctor nelson said, thinking as he tapped his feet on the floor. “Get him to the radiology at once. He needs a CT scan” he said and we both chorused. “Yes sir” Now, I feel like I have resumed fully. Hours later. I glance at my phone as it rang nonstop. Gosh! I hate picking calls during my rounds. I reach out for it in my pocket and it was Jeremy, my younger brother. This boy is a pest. I am glad I was done with my rounds and just about to leave the room. I swiped the receiver. “Hey big sis” he said and I smile. I can tell he is beaming where he was. “Hey kiddo” I said even though I know he would roll his eyes at the word kiddo. He hates hearing that word from me. “im not your kid” he said and I giggled. “You know I'm at…,.” “Doctor Kaia, doctor nelson requests that you get doctor Alex at once. We need to perform a quick kidney transplant for Mr Steve, we are prepping him already “ doctor Olivia said and I dropped my phone in my pocket at once. “Where is his office? Who is he?” I said but before I turn to look at her, she is already gone. Seriously?
