Claire's POV
I arranged for the guys coming to take the measurements for the new treasury door to arrive today. Hopefully if everything stays on course I'll be done with this project in a month.
They arrive and I quickly lead them to the treasury.
Ethan is in his office talking to the engineers as the measurements are being taken.
I type away on my phone when I hear someone approaching but I don't lift my head to see who.
The person moves so close to me leaving just inches of space between us and I wonder who it is.
Imagine me rolling my eyes a bit when I realize it's Arthur.
He chuckles at the expression on my face.
"I can see you're starting to loathe my presence."
I instantly fake a smile.
"It's that obvious huh." He chuckles again at my sarcastic statement.
"I also see you have been busy." He looks over at those taking the measurements.
Why? Does he expect me to just sit down and mourn or something.
"Yes, the queen gave me my first project." I say with a genuine smile on my face and he nods.
"I guess you can really handle the role of a queen then." I knit my brows together feeling offended.
"And what's that supposed to mean? That I'm incompetent?" Arthur chuckles again and I frown a bit.
"I didn't say that." He defends.
"You don't have to say it because clearly that's what you meant."
"Or more like what you think of yourself." He retorts and I gape.
Did he just come here to insult me?
"Thanks for you visit Arthur, but as you can see I'm very busy." I decide to just end the conversation and he nods.
"I didn't come here to pick a fight." I give him the are you kidding me look.
"I came to enquire about the meeting you had with the council." I look at him perplexed.
He's obviously coming to dig around.
"I'm pretty sure your side of the council has already informed you on what you need to know." He smiles to himself.
I keep my gaze on the guys taking the measurements and I see Arthur staring at me through the corner of my eye.
What is his problem?
"And how's my cousin doing?" I crease my forehead at his question.
"He's fine Arthur, although you two live in the same castle, so you can basically walk up to him and ask yourself." I say with a sweet smile and he chuckles again.
"You've obviously realized we're not that close. Any emotion from me is nothing to him."
Wow, he has emotions? Shocker. But hold on a second, did Arthur just say that with some hidden sadness behind it. Maybe he actually had nothing to do with Ethan's accident.
Suddenly he clears his throat.
"Okay. I'll leave you then, since I see my presence is not wanted." I don't say anything in return and he turns to leave.
"Arthur." I call out to him and he turns to me.
"Even the most broken vase can be fixed." He creases his forehead at me at first.
"I doubt that. What if it's broken into very tiny pieces, pieces that can't be put together." It suddenly clicks for him and I smile.
"Try and fix it, you can't declare it beyond repair if you haven't tried." I say with a bigger smile.
He nods with a small smile before walking away.

Thirty minutes later the guys are done with the measurements and I escort them out. I head back inside and stumble across Lydia and Stephanie.
"There you are." Lydia gives me a hug and I look at them confused.
"You were looking for me? Why?"
"We came to rescue you from you project." Lydia says and I chuckle.
"Actually we were hoping we can have some girl time over lunch." Stephanie adds and I nod smiling.
I look at the time seeing it's almost lunch time.
"Sounds great. Lemme just send Ethan a text about my whereabouts."
I take out my phone and start texting and when I'm done I look at Lydia and Stephanie and Lydia has this mischievous look on my face that makes me smile and blush.

The girls and I talk about random stuff and laugh almost all the time. Lydia excuses herself to the washroom and it's left with just Stephanie and I.
"So how's the progress with the vision and the curse." Stephanie shakes her head at me and I sigh.
"Nothing, my vision usually comes to me when the time is right so don't worry." She assures me with a smile and I nod.
"I heard you're bringing some witches over to have a look at the curse." She says grabbing my attention more than necessary.
"Yes, that is right. In fact you just reminded me of that." I smile realizing I have to contact the sisters.
But on second thought.
"How did you know?" I ask with curious eyes and it seems my question catches her off guard a bit.
"Was it Ethan?" I ask and she instantly nods.
"Yeah, he mentioned it one time when we were talking." I nod at her reply and Lydia joins us again.
"What did I miss?" She asks and we chuckle.

After lunch with the girls I decide to visit the sisters. I don't want to have to call them when it's too late. I check my time and sigh realizing that I'll probably be back late in the night.
I inform Ethan about that though.
