Mother knows best

Ethan's POV "How about something like both the fingerprint and iris scanner. I think it will be more secure to have both of them on the door." I suggest and Claire nods. "I think we already have models like that lying around so maybe just some simple modification to suit the treasury is all we need." I nod at her. She shows me a picture of what it would look like then we pick a particular model. I show her the plan of the treasury then we distribute the work. She will deal with everything that has to do with the door and installation whilst I deal with how to ensure the power supply to the treasury is never cut off. "Something like a back up generator." I conclude and she nods with her brows knitted. She continues to stare at the plan on my office table and I stare at her. She looks so beautiful when she's serious. I can't help but divert my eyes to the pulse at her neck and I swallow hard. "Are you sure this is for the best?" She asks demanding my attention. "What do you mean?" I stare at her concerned face with confusion. "I mean your mother, I don't won't her to be bothered by this change." I crease my forehead more. "I'm sure she gave you this project for a very good reason. With the treasury highly secured we can have more guards at other important places and host ball parties once again. I'm sure that is what she was thinking when she gave you this project." She smiles at my reply but is still not all that convinced. I wonder why? But on second thought I should really check in with Maa. "Wait, did I hear ball parties?" She turns to me with wide eyes. "Yes." I nod Claire frowns her face a bit looking sad in the process and I chuckle. Hosting balls is the duty of the queen so I'm guessing she's not liking this idea of fixing the treasury anymore. "Don't worry little wolf, it's not that tiring and annoying like you think." I walk closer to her smiling. She refuses to believe me and pouts making her more cute. Honestly hosting balls should be the least of her problems. She should try raising royal kids. I mean maa always said I was a handful as compared to all her other duties. She finally exhales coming to terms with herself. "Yeah, you're right. It's just like organizing a party, right? She asks with so much hope in her eyes. "Yes." Not entirely true but let's just say that for the mean time. I hug her close to my chest then place a kiss on her forehead. Suddenly her phone rings and she pulls away from me. She looks at the caller then picks it. I watch her talk to the person on the phone concerning issues of the high security biometric vault door. My eyes moves from her beautiful face to the pulse at her neck again. I gaze intensely at it then swallow again. "I'll be right back." I announce out of the blue then look her in the eyes. She nods at me still speaking on the phone and I slowly leave her in the office. I'm really losing it now. I can't stare at her without looking at her neck and wondering how her blood will taste. I knew it would come to this but I want to hold on just a little bit longer. * I make my way to maa's office hoping she's around. Luckily for me I meet her at her door looking ready to head out. "Going somewhere?" I ask and her appearance quickly changes from shock to a smile. "I see you are recovering." She smiles more. "Does that mean I can go back to work?" I ask with hopeful eyes. "No." She shoots me down with a stern look making me chuckle. "Where are you going?" I decide to escort her to the car and hopefully have my conversation with her. "To do something important." She smiles wider and I nod. "So to what do I owe this mother-son time?" She asks and we both stop walking. "Well, first starters, I came to check on my mother." She instantly chuckles. "Also, I was wondering why you agreed to this treasury project, knowing very well you hate big changes being made to the oldest castle." I blurt out and she smiles again. "The treasury being made more secure is actually a good idea. I thought it over and I also realized it would also be good as a first project for Claire." I nod at her statement. But on second thought. "Who are you and what have you done to my mother?" I say playfully and she laughs. "Seriously, where is my mother? You know the crying and, constantly nagging people to guilt, mother." She shakes her head at me then continues walking. "You can also tell Claire that I'm okay with the changes, she shouldn't worry her head." I follow her and she adds to my hearing. "Noted Maa." Something is different about her. I know she can be this serious but there's just something else I can't figure out. We get to the foot of the stairs and I escort her to the cars outside. One guard almost opens the door for her but I dismiss him and do it myself making her smile. She almost enters but stops and narrows her eyes at me. "You look more pale than before, have you been drinking blood?" Concern laces on her face and I try not to chuckle. Now this is a glimpse of my mother. Nothing ever gets pass her. "Yes." I lie and she narrows her eyes at me more. "No." I admit whilst rubbing the back of my neck. "Why are you starving yourself? You just got out of the hospital." She asks with a raised eyebrow. I can tell her. Besides being my mother she's also a vampire. "I'm not starving myself maa, it's just....ever since Claire gave me her blood I can't seem to get it out of my system, and I really don't want to feed on her, yet." She looks at me with pity. "Have you told her this?" I shake my head at her. "But what did she say when you first told her you can consumed her blood?" I knit my brows a bit. "Well she was more than willing to let me feed on her." Maa shakes her head at me. "If she is not worried about you feeding on her then why should you be?" I listen to her. "Because I'm afraid I'll lose control." I admit, not reaching her eyes. Maa lifts my chin to look her in the eyes. "You won't hurt her. You whole body and soul won't allow it. She's your mate for crying out loud." She knocks me on the head at the end. "Since she has given you permission I really don't see what you're worrying about. And besides if you don't give in to her blood thirst now you will actually find it difficult to control yourself in the future. I suggest you start now." I imbibe her words with a nod. "I'm running late, I'll see you soon." I nod again before leaving her with a hug. "Thanks maa." I close the door after she enters and the car drives away with heavy security detail. I sigh then recollect her words again. If I really don't start now then self control will definitely be a problem in the future.
