Claire's POV
During our heated make out session I'm surprised when Ethan bites on my lower lip harder than I expected.
I don't mind at all, if anything it kinda turns me on, but he pulls away from the kiss thinking that he hurt me.
"It's okay." I chuckle and lick the blood but he remains still.
I look up into his eyes and almost gasp.
"Your eyes are glowing red." I say whilst staring deep into his pupils.
He suddenly pulls away from me and before I can say anything he rushes to his closet.
I sit there for a while a bit perplexed before I decide to follow him.
I approach the closet which is wide open and slowly walk in.
To my uttermost surprise I find him gulping down a bag of blood.
I swallow a bit and stay put but at the same time I'm more worried.
"Ethan, is everything okay?" I ask as he finishes his second bag of blood and leans onto his wardrobe.
"I'm sorry." He says, his voice sounding a bit husky.
"What's wrong with you?" My worry gets the better of me and I rush towards him.
I cup his face to look into his eyes and they're back to normal.
Something is definitely wrong with him.
He smiles at me then holds my hands.
"I'm sorry I scared you little wolf." He holds my hands together in his before placing a kiss on them.
"Did I do something wrong?"
"No, no you did nothing wrong." He says eagerly to let me know I'm not at fault.
"But there is something you should know." I quirk my eyebrows a bit.

"You remember the time you asked me how I relieve my stress?" Ethan sits me at the edge of the bed and I stare at him attentively.
"Yes." I reply and he nods.
He told me he drinks blood to relieve stress, human blood.
"Well I don't only drink it when I'm stressed." I crease my forehead at him as he kneels down in front of me, still holding my hands.
"I also do so when I'm weak and drained, especially from having to be around people who will underestimate me if given the chance."
I think about his words and it suddenly clicks.
"You have to be using your Alpha aura all the time and it drains you." I say and he instantly nods.
"And turns out human blood is not the only thing I can drink." He ask and my eyes widen a bit.
"There's another alternative source. A better one. One that guarantees I won't be easily drained of energy for a long while as compared to human blood." He looks into my eyes.
"Sounds great." I say and he nods.
"So what is it? And why don't you take it?" I ask and he stands up before running his hand through his hair.
"The blood of my mate, your blood."
I'm a bit surprised when he says this but at the same time I see a window to help him out.
"That's perfect, right?" I ask when I see he's not too happy about this.
"That's the problem. The blood of a hybrid's mate is addictive. It's like a drug you can never get enough of." He says without reaching my eyes.
"So?" I stand to get his attention.
"I can drink you dry." He adds looking into my eyes with seriousness.
The most serious I've ever seen him.
I understand where he's coming from. He's afraid he'll kill me.
"I know you won't hurt me." I reach for his hand and he shakes his head before pulling away.
"I've heard of hybrids like me who killed their mates when they first tasted their blood. I don't want to put it to the test." He says and I can sense he has already made his decision.
"Even if it can help you?" I press on and he exhales hard.
"Enough of this. How about we go out for some fresh air." He changes the subject and I slightly nod not wanting to upset him.

Ethan's POV
I knew she would offer her blood to me without a second thought and that's why I didn't want her to know.
I basically told her she could die and all she's thinking of is helping me.
But I won't let her risk her life for me, her blood is off the table.
By the time we leave the room lunch time is almost approaching and I decide on taking her out.
She changes her outfit and I have a car and some security detail prepared for us to go out.
I'm taking her out to a restaurant but I don't want people staring at us as we drive by, so I pick a different car for Claire and I to drive in.
I then tell the guards to follow us at a far distance.
I help my mate climb into the car before walking over to the driver's seat.
I start the engine and Claire looks behind at the royal cars.
"Where are we going?" She asks smiling and I chuckle knowing she's going to hate my answer.
"It's a surprise." She rolls her eyes and I start driving.
The guards follow us at a respectable distance like I ordered and I glance at my mate who stares outside into vacuum.
"What are you thinking off?" She snaps out of her trance then shakes her head at me.
I sense that she's thinking of our conversation from earlier but she doesn't want to say it somehow.
She probably thinks I'll be upset.
"I just don't want to hurt you." I say and she looks at me.
I reach for her hand with my other hand and place a kiss on it.
"And I just want to help." She says and I nod.
"But not like this. Not when I can hurt you." She opens her mouth to protest
"Eventually, along the way I can drink your blood. But not now when everything is chaotic and stressful. Even if nothing happens the first time I might snap one day, and I don't want to hurt you." I appeal to her conscience
She lets it go and nods, I think she has finally understood and accepted my decision.
We arrive at the restaurant which I booked a reservation at and the guards arrive soon after us.
I chose this place because we won't be bothered here by any paparazzi or media team.
This place is for top notch people so it's normal for them to see me around here.
I could have booked the whole place for total privacy but there wasn't much time.
Also I don't want to be responsible for ruining anyone's day.
The guards escort us in and everyone stares as we make our way to the private room I booked for two.
I hold onto Claire's hand and she smiles at me.
People mostly look at us surprised.
I also hear some murmurings about the fact that I'm with someone.
But I don't mind at all.
It's bound to happen sooner or later.
They must know I'm now off the table, especially the she wolves.
