Arthur's POV
I can't stop thinking about that kiss.
It was so unexpected but yet so warm and nice.
If I could rewind the time I would have had that kiss on my lips, but I was so distracted by my stupid cousin and now I'm here with this regret.
She outsmarted me too.
I chuckle to myself as I think of it.
I walk out of my closet shirtless with only sweatpants on to find someone lying on my bed.
"How many times do I have to remind you that my room is off limits." I speak and Stephanie turns to face me.
"As many as you can." She says seductively and I run my hand over my face frustrated.
"I'm not in the mood Steph. What do you want?" I speak coldly as I put on a shirt.
"Well I went for breakfast this morning and you weren't there." She says sitting up.
"And?" I ask already irritated with her.
"I came to check up on you." She adds and I exhale hard.
"Well I'm fine, you can leave now." I say in the same cold manner and she frowns a bit.
I walk pass her to grab my phone from the bed and she suddenly wraps her arms around me from behind.
"Steph." I try to remain calm.
"What you did last night was to spite Ethan, right?" Her question takes me by surprise.
I turn around to face her taking her hands off me then push her back.
"Why do you care?" I ask curious to know and she smiles.
"Because there's no way you did it for another reason." I continue to look at her confused.
"I mean imagine if you actually wanted Claire to kiss you. Imagine you liking her. I mean she's your cousin's mate." She chuckles but I get lost in her words.
Some part of me did want her to kiss me.
Some part of me didn't care about the fact that she's my cousin's mate.
"Arthur." Stephanie shouts grabbing my attention.
Suddenly my phone rings and I look at the caller.
I run my hand through my hair before picking the call.
I point to the door for Stephanie to leave as I walk to the balcony.
"Dad."
"Have you found anything?"
Straight to the point.
"No, I've just been watching them play king and queen and house."
"What about the girl?" He asks.
"The foreigner?"
"Yes, your cousin's mate.
This is the second time I'm hearing those words and I'm beginning not to like it.
"Anything about her?"
I nod.
"Well it's just what we know, she's a werewolf from a far away pack, and she has alpha blood."
He sighs frustrated knowing that makes her qualified to rule as queen, and puts Ethan in the good books of the council.
"And what's the name of the pack?"
"Red Moon pack." At that he stays silent for a while.
"That pack sounds familiar. Have it checked out. I think you might find something interesting that can help us in the long run." He says and I nod.
"Also get to know more. We need more evidence to show the council how unfit your cousin is. If we get that we can send him off in a way the humans won't suspect anything, and you'll be king." He says clearly reminding me of the plan.
"Most especially get something that can tie him to this curse he brought upon us. The council won't forgive that, and I'll see what I'll do on my side." He adds and I nod.
"I understand, father."
"Good." He hangs up and I run my hand through my hair again before walking back into the room.
Thankfully Stephanie is gone.

I leave my room around late afternoon to walk around when my phone vibrates with gossip feeds .
I would have ignored it any other day but today isn't one.
This feed comes with a picture of Claire and Ethan.
It seems they went out and it's now trending that she's the possible future queen.
For the first time in my life I read the gossip feeds and I can't help but feel a bit angry.
"That should be us. That should be our throne, and she should be our mate."
My wolf Alastair growls in my head.
Just like me he's obsessed with being king and feels cheated.
Cars pulls up in front of the castle and I watch as Ethan gets out.
He walks over to the other side and opens the door for Claire.
She smiles at him and I watch on with envy.
Just like always he has everything I could ever desire.
The throne, the power,.......a mate.
