At the hospital

Claire's POV
I can feel my whole body trembling, my heart pounding and my lungs suffocating.
My hypothesis was right and my mate was indeed in trouble, because now we are rushing to the hospital.
The others stayed back to change and I took the lead desperate to know what has happened to Ethan.
Lydia chose to escort me since she was also not dressed like me. Now we are rushing to the hospital with heavy security detail behind us.
I run my hand through my hair frustrated before resting my face in my palms.
I feel a hand rub circles on my back and I assume it's Lydia offering me comfort.
"He's okay, I'm sure he's totally fine." She says and I try to think positive, but I just can't knowing he is in the emergency unit.
Logan sent a mind link to Lucas that Ethan had been shot and he's taking him to the nearest hospital because he's bleeding.
I totally lost it when I heard that and everyone seemed shocked too.
I sit straight and nod at Lydia and she gives me a comforting smile before holding my hand.
"Can you please drive faster." I say to the driver before he steps on the gas again.
Lydia lets go of my hand and I witness her in a mind link.
The mind link ends and I look to her for answers.
"It was Lucas, he's right behind us with the queen." I nod at her before my mind moves onto Katherine.
She must be really worried than I am.
We arrive at the hospital in Wolf city and Lydia and I rush to the reception desk.
"What floor is the emergency department?" She asks in a hurry and the nurses there look at her startled. In fact they sniff us before falling at ease.
"The tenth floor." Says one nurse before pointing to a private lift.
Lydia and I take the lift before I press ten and the doors close.
I pace around in the elevator until we arrive at the tenth floor.
I'm the first to get out and rush to the reception desk there but Lydia beats me to the question.
"Was the alpha brought in?" The two nurses look at us a bit startled before looking at their computers.
"Yes, he's in the emergency room right now." One of the nurses say and my heart starts pounding again.
One nurse leaves the desk and walks over to us.
"Please follow me." She says with her head bowed before walking away.
We follow her and she leads us through the private sector of the hospital until she stops in front of a double door.
"Please wait her." She bows again and walks away.
I enter the room and I find myself walking into a private waiting room with snacks and comfortable sofas.
We find Logan sitting on one of the sofas in deep thoughts and we quickly rush to him.
"Logan, how is he?" I ask almost at the brink of tears as he stands.
He looks at me with pity and a bit of guilt.
"I'm sorry Luna, I don't know." He responds and I sit down more dejected than I have ever been in my life.
"What happened?" Lydia asks and he takes in a deep breath.
"It was another assassination attempt." He says and I look up at him.
Another assassination attempt? So this isn't the first time?
"This isn't the first?" I ask and Logan fails to reach my eyes.
He better be okay, because I'm going to kill him myself.

The queen arrives with the rest 7 mins after us.
I stand to meet her and though she looks composed her eyes tell a different story.
"What happened? How is he?" She asks and we shake our heads.
"The doctor hasn't been here yet." Logan says and they nod.
Katherine stretches her hand towards me and I accept it before we move away from the rest who take their seats.
"Are you okay?" She asks and I nod.
"What about you? I know all this is not easy for you too." She nods with a small smile, still looking composed.
"I'm okay dear, thanks for asking." I nod at her before she tightens her grip on my hand.
"He's gonna be okay, he's a strong boy, he always has been." She says as a means of comfort to both of us.
I nod back with a small smile.
I lead her to sit down on a sofa and I take my seat beside her as we continue to wait.
A doctor enters the room after two hours of waiting and the tension in the room suddenly increases as we all stand to meet him.
"Your majesty." He bows to the queen who is still seated.
"He is alright. He went through the operation smoothly." We all exhale relieved.
"But he has lost a lot of blood and is therefore unconscious. We are moving him to his new room to give him some human blood. Hopefully he'll wake up soon." He adds and we all nod.
"What about the wolfsbane?" Logan asks and my eyes widen.
"He was shot with wolfsbane?" I ask the question on everyone's lips.
"That explains why he was bleeding." Lucas says.
"Though the amount of wolfsbane in his system is plenty, we're hoping the human blood will dilute it too." The doctor adds.
"When can we see him?" The queen asks.
"Please wait, we'll come for you when he's ready and stable to receive visitors." We nod and he bows again before leaving.
Everyone except me resumes their seats and I find Logan by the queen whispering something between themselves.
Since they're whispering I decide not to eavesdrop.
The queen's suddenly looks furious and I wonder what Logan is telling her.
She soon dismisses him and I walk back to my seat as Logan walks to his.
I see a slight change in his movements and when he sits down he grimaces making me suspect he's hiding his injury.
"Are you okay, Logan?" I ask across to him and the whole room looks at us.
He looks at me surprised but I lean forward concerned.
"I'm fine Luna, thanks for asking." He smiles a bit at me.
He has been hiding this injury for a while now. I need to get him to see a doctor.
"There's a slight change in your movement. You should probably see a doctor." I say and he looks at me.
"I assure you that I'm-- oww!" He suddenly exclaims when Lydia pokes him in the chest.
"I'm fine my a**." She says angrily before standing up.
The rest try not to laugh.
"Come on, let's go see a doctor." She says to him and Logan shakes his head.
"I said I'm fine." He says clearly irritated at Lydia and I smile.
"Logan, you should go see a doctor." The queen drops in.
"But I'm fine, your majesty." He retorts, acting stubborn.
"That's an order." Katherine commands and he nods, having no choice but to obey.
Lydia escorts him out and I get up to use the restroom.
I come back to find the doctor anxiously speaking with the rest.
"The human blood we gave him is not working. It seems it's not strong enough to dilute the wolfsbane in his blood." The doctor says and I move to join the rest.
"There has to be something else you can do." The queen says looking like she's about to break character.
"We'll try giving him more blood to see if it'll still work." There's uncertainty in his voice and we can all tell.
""There's another alternative source. A better one. One that guarantees I won't be easily drained of energy for a long while as compared to human blood."
I suddenly begin to recall the conversation I had with Ethan.
"The blood of my mate, your blood." My eyes widen with realization.
"What about my blood?" I ask and everyone turns to me.
The doctor looks at me perplexed.
"She's his mate." Stephanie says and his eyes widen a bit.
"Your blood to him will be hundred times effective and stronger than the human blood we're giving him. Your blood will be perfect."
He says more certain than ever and I nod with a small smile on my face.
Some part of me knows Ethan won't agree with this, but I don't care about that right now.
I have to save him.
