Claire's POV
Arthur and I walk out of the waiting room and head to Gwendolyn's grave room.
After I asked him why he hates Ethan he remained silent.
He looked like he was thinking about a lot of things but he didn't answer my question after. He's choosing not to answer my question, maybe I'll get it out of him later.
We walk into a huge room with high ceilings and a lot of lightnings.
At the center of the room is a grave stone which I assume contains Gwendolyn's body, mostly bones.
"Have them open it up." Arthur requests and the old woman bows.
Usually graves of historical figures are not opened for anybody at all but I'm guessing since he's royalty he's a great exception.
A machinery is used to lift the heavy flat stone off the grave before Arthur turns to me.
I look back at him confused until I remember I have the egg.
I reach for the bag and open it up. I take out the egg holding it with great care before handing it over to Arthur.
He walks over to the grave and looks down into it before placing the egg cautiously inside.
The grave is closed again and we're soon walking out of the room.
But come to think of it.
"Haven't we made founder's night more difficult by hiding the egg here? I mean you're gonna have to drive here then have the grave opened. Isn't it too much?" I turn to Arthur who shakes his head.
"The drive here is forty minutes. Having the grave opened won't take forever. One hour is okay." He replies, back to his nonchalant mood.
"And if anything the time for searching can be increased." He adds and I nod.
We're soon outside and heading in the direction of the cars but I stop walking and so does Arthur when he realizes I'm not following.
I look at Gwendolyn's statue then look around.
It would be a shame if we just left.
I need to know more about Artea's history and this is the best place for that.
"Can we just look around for a while." Arthur tilts his head a bit at me.
"Why?" He asks and I try not to frown.
"Because I need to know more." I humble myself a bit because right now I'm in need.
He walks over to me.
"Ever heard of the saying let the past be in the past?" He says with a serious expression on his face and I almost glare at him.
I calm down and look him straight in the eyes with pleading eyes before he looks at his phone then at me.
"Fine." He rolls his eyes and I smile.
"Thanks." I say before walking off in any direction.
I just stare at the monuments outside before moving inside to the artifacts and more monuments.
I read what I can read whilst Arthur follows me around with his hands in his pocket looking bored out of his mind.
I look at more stuff when I suddenly have the urge to take pictures. I take out my phone and I'm soon reminded that my battery is low.
Out of nowhere a phone is handed out to me and I look up to see Arthur.
I smile at this surprising gesture before taking his phone and thanking him.
I take as many pictures as I want and before I realize it Arthur is by my side giving me his knowledge of what he knows.
And trust me this guy knows a lot. I guess it's because he grew up learning it.
We finish by late afternoon and we head to the cars.
"There's no turning back, you're sure you've got enough pictures?" He asks and I nod.
"Anything else you want before we head back?" I don't know where all this nice attitude is coming from but I sure do like this side of him.
"No. I'm good." I say with a smile.
Unfortunately when we reach the cars my stomach let's out a loud growl that has me blushing with embarrassment.
Thankfully it's only Arthur who heard, but unfortunately it's Arthur who heard it.
He suddenly bursts out laughing, I should probably be annoyed but this is the first time I've heard him laugh. It sounds so genuine and care free so I just smile at him.
We get into the car and his laughter subsides.
He starts driving and I expect us to pull up at the castle 40 minutes later but in 10 minutes we're in front of a huge restaurant.
"Let's go." He takes off his seat belt and alights.
I follow suit and look at him surprised.
Did someone kidnapped Arthur and replace him with a nice stranger?
We move to an almost empty part of the restaurant before we take a seat at a nice table for two.
Arthur picks up the menu and starts going through it and I follow suit again.
I peek at him over my menu then quickly look away when he looks up from his menu.
I hear him chuckle before a waiter walks over to us. We place our orders then sit in silence to wait.
"By the way since I came out with the hiding place you'll have to write the poem." I turn my attention to Arthur.
I choose not to complain, I just nod.
"Do you have any suggestion?" I ask when our food arrives.
"Are you asking for my help?' He raises his eyebrows in amusement.
"Last time I checked I was the one carrying the egg around. I helped you, you help me." I failed, I totally complained.
He chuckles before he digs into his food.
"Oh and before I forget." I say whilst reaching into my pocket to retrieve his phone.
I thank him once again and he nods.
"How am I going to get the pictures though?" He instantly smiles at me.
"Don't worry about that." I look at him perplexed at first then shrug it off.
Let it be a problem for tomorrow.
Every bite of the food makes me realize how hungry I am, which is weird because I promise I'm overeating at this point.
Or this is how it's going to be like every time my blood is sucked.
And hey, I'm not complaining, this is just a good excuse to get more food into my body and not gain weight.
I finish my food to Arthur's amazement before leaving to use the washroom before we leave.
I return coincidentally at the same time he receives a call on his phone.
"Well hello cousin, it's very nice of you to call." I pause behind him as he speaks to Ethan, not aware of my presence.
"I can't tell you that. For very good reasons....... She's not here. I'll let her know you called." He continues speaking and I choose to approach. When I reach him he ends the call and stands up.
"Who was that?" I ask innocently like I wasn't eavesdropping.
"No one important, let's go." He smiles at me then pays before we leave.
The ride back to the castle is in comfortable silence and by the time we arrive the sun is already setting.
"Thanks again for the history lesson."
"So now I'm a history teacher." He says and I chuckle.
"Not what I meant,.....but it's good to see you aren't that bad." I openly admit and he stares at me.
It's the truth though, he's not that bad as I thought. I now see redemption in him and some character change. Maybe he's changing for good.
We walk towards the entrance and I see Ethan approaching.
Out of nowhere some early evening breeze blows and I forget to hold my hair down.
Before I can take another step forward Arthur grabs me by the waist and pulls me close to him.
My eyes widen at his action when I realize his hand on my neck inspecting what I assume to be my bite mark.
"Who did this to you?" He asks, anger evident in his voice.
I quickly push away from him to see Ethan approaching more angrier than I've ever seen.
Oh s**t!
