Teddy was looking forward to experimenting with the amulets, but his grandma had taken a fall, and his mom was going to help out for a few days with chores around the farm. She enlisted Teddy's energy to make quick work of his grandma's unfinished duties. Work on the farm couldn't go undone without animals becoming hungry or fields growing wild. Margaret's brothers and sisters-in-law would pitch in as well, but they were also farmers and had their fields to tend first.
Before Teddy left for the farm, he talked to Tem on the phone. He briefly described his understanding of the cycle of photosynthesis and how he might apply it to experimenting with the amulets.
