Carl nodded.
Sue had expected a bit more kindness from him. She thought that since he had already committed to the meeting, he would be much more pleasant company.
“Of course I know many things about you. I collect information about everybody I meet.”
“The ladies too?”
If the room weren’t so dimly lit, Sue could have seen him turning red.
“Especially about them…. What can I order for you?”
“I trust your choice,” Sue answered because she didn’t want to admit that she would rather drink something strong. She wanted to be pluckier.
Carl chose a bottle of quality red wine and asked for the menu. He quickly selected the food, like someone who had already prepared for the moment. But Sue was undecided, so she let the waiter make a recommendation, which she accepted.
