Derrick becomes agitated as he glances at his pals. "I won't be able to get a second chance mate if I just reject her. It doesn't work that way. Oh goddess, I cant be stuck alone my entire life. Im going to need a Luna."
Ryan asks, "What do you want to do?"
"We can take her to the pack border, kill her and say we have no idea what happened to her. We can set her over the border and either the rogues or another pack will take care of her body," Derrick adds in a calm manner. It seems as though he has been planning this for some time. Given how long he has despised me, I wouldn't be shocked if he did.
I can't get my body to move, so I'm just lying on the floor while they plan my death. I am currently too weak. Gosh, how I wish I had my wolf in this moment. I am going to die today because this crazy man is looking for a new partner.
Wide-eyed, Ransley backs up against Derrick. He yells, "ARE YOU INSANE?" at Derrick. Ransley shakes his head in disgust at Derrick, but he just smirks back, saying, "I may have watched you make fun of her and stuff like that, but I am NOT helping you kill her because you don't want her as your mate."
"Either you help us, or I will tell my dad about the money you stole a few months back to pay for your little gambling problem."
Ransley just closed his jaws and remained motionless, so I suppose that attracted his attention. I'm on the ground one moment, and then I'm slung over Ryan's shoulder like a bag of potatoes the next. I can't even try to fight them since my body is weak from the pain of being rejected. I stand motionless while the boys exit the building through the side door and make their way into the woodland.
Deneea's Point of View
Ryan tosses me onto the ground over his shoulder after we've walked the four miles to the pack limits. I hear a snap, land on my wrist the wrong way, and scream in agony. I was aware of my shattered wrist. I'm sure Derrick intends to make this as painful as possible for me since he knows I can't recover, acting as though the moon goddess fated us to be together.
Ryan spits angrily, "Shut up, Goddess. You are so f*****g annoying."
I choose to keep quiet while I give him a hateful gaze. They are waiting for a response from me, and if these are my final few seconds, I will not give them the joy of witnessing my tears. When I look up, Ryan is simply staring at me with a twinkle in his eyes and disdain, as if he is enjoying tormenting me.
"Gosh, he really needs help," a voice in my mind remarks.
"Who is this, um?""May I ask?"
"I'm your foolish wolf." You can call me Les, but my name is Celeste. I apologize for taking so long to reply to you. We may discuss that at a later time. We have to survive whatever they have in store for you right now, she says.
Okay, they're going to murder me. I cynically say, "I'm not sure how, but I guess we are about to find out."
I hear Les say, "Okay smart ass, I will try to heal you as fast as I can, but if I do it too fast, they might catch on and...," as a fist bangs into my jaw. I hadn't been paying attention because I was preoccupied with my wolf, but suddenly Derrick and Ryan were both kicking and punching my entire body. I try my best to shield myself by rolling onto my side and curving into a fetal position. After receiving hits continually for a few minutes, Derrick begins yelling commands.
"Ransley, turn her over on her back."
"No. I am here but I am not participating in this."
Derrick tells Ryan, "Fine, turn her over," and he fishes around in his back pocket for a knife. I can make out the silver blade's glitter. Silver can cause someone's wolf to retreat and gradually contaminate their wolf blood, even if it might not kill a wolf.
Derrick is standing right in front of me and forces me to look into his eyes by holding my chin with his thumb and fingers. The only feeling I perceive in him is happiness at about to be let free.
"You are nothing. Even in death you are pathetic and weak. I am so glad that I got to reject you. No one would have loved you anyways. I hope the moon goddess gives me someone so much better than you for my second chance mate. Although anyone else would be a step above you. You are a waste of space. Time to clear some of that space up. Its been real, A. Bye now," he says as he knifes me and says a final thing to me.
"Ignore him," I say. You defend me as well as yourself. We're going to get through this. I adore you, sister.
When Derrick stabs me in the stomach, the pain is unbearable. My body feels like it wants to stop. I look at each of the three of them. I want my face to stick in their minds. Derrick gleefully glances at me, Ryan appears uninterested, and Ransley looks incredibly guilty. I can really feel the sadness and remorse on his face. Perhaps it will be him who takes action to put this right. It's as if they didn't just try to kill me and leave me for dead. I have no idea why, but they all turn and begin heading back into the forest and towards the school.
I sense the darkness drawing nearer to me. Not only have I lost too much blood, but I also may have internal injuries.
Les appears again, but I have to try to hear what she's saying because of how faint her voice is.
I understand that Deneea is worn out, but I need you to move your hand across the pack border. She offers encouragement, saying, "If you can accomplish that, then whoever the Alpha of that territory is will know you are crossing the border and can come help."
I put out my hand and step across the pack boundary just as the darkness takes over my thoughts.
Alpha Jordan's perspective
My migraine is beginning to spread down my neck as I sit in my office in the Black River Pack's pack house. I begin rubbing my temples. As Renwick, my pack beta, describes the two rogue attacks that occurred at our pack borders this past week, I glance at him. When you don't have a Luna to assist you delegate and act as a sounding board, sometimes being an Alpha stinks. At the age of 29, I had assumed that I would have a partner by now, but when I turned 21, my partner rejected me. She had no desire for me or to be Luna. Even though ladies are already swarming me in an attempt to claim the title of Luna, I'm holding out for my second chance partner. I prayed to the goddess, and she answered, telling me that I will obtain my request shortly.
Renwick just said something, but I was too preoccupied thinking about my Luna to hear it, and now he's clapping in my face.
I ask him, "What?"
He laughs and says, "Jeez, Alpha. You were spaced out for a good minute."
"Ha Ha. Get on with what you were saying shithead."
"As I was saying, we managed to get the rogues back with minimal injuries. Its strange Alpha. Its like they arent here to kill like they normally do but making themselves known or maybe they are a distraction. For what, I dont know yet, but I will find out," he says with a confused look on his face.
I get a strange, intense sensation that starts in my stomach and goes away. I grunt and grip my stomach. It's only a few seconds at most, and when I wake up, Renwick is staring at me worriedly.
"Alpha, are you okay? What the f**k was that?"
I receive a mental alert when someone has breached pack boundaries. I'm not sure what caused the pain, but I have to put work and taking care of my pack first.
"Im fine but I just caught that someone crossed the border in the northwest. We need to head over there because I want to see that rogue stuff you were talking about. See it for myself. Lets go," I say as I start toward the door.
In order to have backup, I mind-link my gamma, Reign, and instruct him to meet us there. He greets me and Renwick in the packhouse's backyard. We all undress, fold our clothes, and change into our wolves so that we can run. Electric blue eyes and midnight black fur characterize my wolf. Renwick is a wolf with dark brown eyes and a light brown coat. Reign has light brown eyes and is more of a darker brown wolf.
We all stop running when we realize we are approximately a mile away from the pack border. Blood. We all transform back into humans and don the clothing we brought with us. If someone is hurt and in need of our assistance, we don't want to frighten them. I inhaled deeply, and my wolf Asmo bursts into a pacing fit, shouting "MATE" over and over.
"Mate?" Asmo, are you certain? Is our friend actually bleeding there?I beg him in a desperate manner. I was desperate to locate my second chance partner.
Yes, you stupid person. I'm positive. Our mate is that. Reach out to her. We must assist her. She is expiring.
