Chapter One: The Night Everything Changed
Luna never believed in fated bonds.
Not until the night she almost died.
The rain was heavy that evening—hard enough to blur the streetlights into glowing streaks. She ran through the forest path behind her village, breath uneven, heart pounding like something was chasing her.
Maybe something was.
She stopped suddenly, gripping her chest.
Something felt wrong.
Not fear.
Something deeper.
Like her body recognized danger before her mind did.
A low sound echoed through the trees.
A growl.
Luna froze.
“…No,” she whispered. “Not now.”
The sound came again—closer this time.
Then she saw him.
A shadow between the trees.
Tall.
Still.
Watching her like she wasn’t a stranger… but something already claimed.
Luna stepped back slowly. “Who’s there?”
Silence.
Then—
he moved.
Fast.
Too fast.
Before she could run, he was in front of her.
Luna stumbled back, falling into the wet ground. “Stay away from me!”
The man didn’t respond immediately.
He just looked at her.
Like he was trying to understand something that didn’t make sense.
Then his voice came—low, controlled.
“You shouldn’t be here.”
Luna swallowed hard. “Neither should you.”
A pause.
Then his gaze dropped slightly—to her wrist.
And everything in him changed.
His expression tightened.
“…Impossible,” he said under his breath.
Luna frowned. “What are you talking about?”
He stepped closer.
Luna immediately backed away.
But his voice stopped her.
“Don’t move.”
It wasn’t loud.
But it hit something inside her body that made her freeze anyway.
He noticed it too.
His eyes darkened slightly.
“…You feel it,” he said quietly.
Luna shook her head. “I don’t feel anything.”
But that was a lie.
Because her chest was tightening.
Her heart was reacting to him.
The man stepped closer again—but slower this time.
Careful.
Controlled.
Like he was fighting himself.
And then—
he said it.
“I’m Aiden.”
The moment his name left his lips, something inside Luna reacted violently.
A sharp pain shot through her wrist.
She gasped, falling to her knees. “Ah—!”
Aiden moved instantly—but stopped himself halfway.
His eyes widened slightly.
“…The mark,” he whispered.
Luna looked up at him through pain. “What… mark?”
Aiden didn’t answer.
But the air between them changed.
Like something ancient had just awakened.
