Disaster
What would Busan be like?
It's been a long time since I last visited that place... the beautiful scenery... the food... oh how much I miss Busan's delicacy.
I wonder how he's doing...
My reminiscing was suddenly interrupted by a loud and excited shriek, "Eek! I am so excited for this Ney, I've always wanted to visit Busan!" Sarah, my friend said between giggles.
We just finished fixing our things for our trip to Busan. She had been dreaming for this day to come for years, she was so jealous when I told her I used to live there.
"나도 (nado-Me too), I've always wanted to come back to that place." I said, clearly exuberant.
After a few minutes of chatting, we heard a beeping sound. "Looks like our cab is here." Sarah exclaimed, looking out the window.
"It's a two to three hours drive so we better hurry if we want to get there as soon as possible." I retaliated.
We loaded our baggage in the trunk and entered the cab. "Is this all your things, ma'am?" The cab driver asked politely.
"예 아저씨 (ye ajeossi-yes mister)" I thanked the driver and closed the door.
I slowly closed my eyes and sighed, soon enough, I was out cold.
My sleep was interrupted by a sudden loud crash. "What the-?" I asked in annoyance.
"Is there something wrong, 아저씨? (ajeossi-mister)" I asked nervously.
What's happening? Is there an earthquake?
I felt a little dizzy after the loud banging and shaking so I closed my eyes once more to calm myself.
After a few seconds, I opened my eyes again only to see total chaos. People are screaming and running everywhere as if they are being chased.
Why are they running like headless chickens?
I looked at Sarah and noticed she's still in deep slumber so I immediately called for her to wake up.
I looked ahead only to see an empty driver's seat.
Where is the driver?
"W-what is happening?" A small voice said. "Sarah, it's a good thing you're awake. The driver is gone and I don't know where he is." I exclaimed with a panicked expression.
"W-why are they all running like crazy? Ney, what's happening?" She asked with a fear-stricken face.
"I-I don't know. I just woke up a-and there were s-shaking and banging." I stuttered.
Sarah peeked at the window to check. "Ney, it's a disaster," She exclaimed.
I quickly dialed my mother's phone number after hearing what Sarah said.
"Ney, it looks like this car got crashed as well." Sarah said with her already trembling voice.
"Sarah, lock the doors and close the windows," I instructed.
"Ney I'm scared...," Sarah whimpered.
"Ssh, we'll be fine." I assured.
After a couple of seconds, my mom finally answered the phone.
"Mom, Are you okay? Where's dad, Nikki, and Nick?" I immediately asked mom as soon as she answered.
"Honey, Is there something wrong? Yeah, we're alright." My mom answered.
"Mom, whatever happens. Don't let the twins go outside, same goes for you and Dad, okay?" I commanded.
"Honey, I don't understand. Why? What is going on?" She asked, her voice full of confusion.
"Mom, please listen to me. Don't go anywhere and lock the doors, the windows. Make sure to lock them all." I said with a firm voice.
"Ney, your siblings are in school." She answered.
"Please tell them to go home, now." I said nervously.
"But Ney-"
"Mom just please!" I pleaded with tears welling up.
"Okay honey, just calm down and tell me what's wrong and why do I hear noises, screaming in your background?" She retorted.
"This is what I am talking about mom. We are in great chaos right now and we don't know what happened or why it is happening. So, please tell Nikki and Nick to go home right now and don't go anywhere." I spoke.
"Ney, be careful, okay? I'll call your sister and brother to come home now. Be careful, call me when you need anything." Mom responded then hung up.
After I ended the call, someone suddenly banged on our window, screaming for help. She is crying hard and her chest huffed and puffed because of exhaustion.
"Please help me! Open the door, please. Please. There are monsters everywhere! Please let me in." She desperately begged, still banging on the window.
But the windows are tinted black, we can only see them from the inside but no one can see us from the outside.
I was about to open the door but then Sarah stopped me from doing it.
"Ney, You heard her. There are monsters outside. We never know if she's already a monster or still a normal person."
"But what if she's still normal. We have to help her." I reasoned.
"Ney, listen. What if she is just pretending?" Sarah said, her voice trembling from fear.
"No. She's obviously normal and sane. Look she's even crying and she can still beg for help." I convinced.
I was going to open the door when Sarah stopped me once more.
"Ney, we are not sure. What if she is a monster?" She spoke.
"And what if she isn't? Can you afford to see someone die because of you?" I said and opened the door.
"Quick, get in." I commanded.
As soon as the lady entered the car, something... no someone banged on the window once more.
It looked like it got bitten by something. It looks so gruesome. The eyes are twisted and the mouth is ripped.
"Thank you so much. If you didn't help me, I would've been dead by now." The lady cried.
"You're welcome. What are they? What's wrong with them? Why are they chasing people and bite them?" I innocently asked.
"T-they are........"
"They are Zombies...." The lady said with a pained stricken expression.
I didn't know zombies were real.
I started to feel more scared than ever. I don't want to die! I haven't even lost my first kiss yet!
I looked at the lady again whose chest is heaving in and out because of so much exhaustion.
I guess she really ran for her life.
I'm scared, what will happen now? Will we survive?
