AETHERIUM ISLANDS: The Adventures of Alice

YEAR 2178 Humans now have powers. That power is a technology that makes humans now do a lot of things. They depend on it too much that they would die without it, but on the other hand, technology helped in making their lives easy. Now, because of technology, people struggled for power, everyone wanted to be the strongest. Everyone wanted everything. They depend too much on technology that one’s survival has evolved through it. They became competitive, greedy, and wicked in every aspect, including video games. NARAZUKA UNIVERSE CO. is the leading company of game developers. They have created trending and out-of-the-world games including SpotX-1, a first-person shooter (FPS) game using VR gadgets, the Crawl Out of Horizon game which is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) that uses MR gadgets, and even the Age of Hunters that was launched just a year and a half ago was created by them. People are going nuts when they announce a new game because everyone knew it would be a massive hit. This year, NARAZUKA UNIVERSE CO. planned to release another game called Aetherium Islands. A classic MMORPG game that uses VR gadgets. The odd thing about it is the secrecy that the company established for this game, opposite to what they usually do. They use to broadcast an upcoming game before beta-testing, garnering tons of players around the world to line up just to be chosen by the developers. A Virtual Reality gadget would be the mode of the game giving the players the vast experience of the new world and Alice Delfin would be one of the players to experience it firsthand. Known as the only female gamer to ever compete and won in an international electronic sports game, Alice got the title “Game Princess”. However, she is quite cautious about her appearance, showing only her eyes in public and only a few people have seen her face, which makes the world curious about this mysterious player. Well, that Alice Delfin is me and I am now standing in front of a huge glass tower building in the middle of a forest. I still could not believe today’s event and it still felt like a dream to me. I roam my eyes around and saw men in white suits with huge white and blue electric guns strapped over their bodies and blue shades that cover their eyes. Players like me are standing –no, admiring the place. It has been so long since I have seen a forest or entered one, the world has succumbed to cities and technologies that forests like this are no longer the government’s priority. I sighed and breathed in the freshness of the air before fixing my mask just to make sure no one sees my face before turning around to face the glass building and going inside–smiling. A new adventure for Ali–here I come!!
