Nick did his best to shield them from anyone who might be lurking and made a portal with a flick of his wrist and stepped them through to bring them into the barn at the Bush ranch. Closing it behind him quickly, he set Grier on her feet.
Her face was red from hanging upside down over his back. She looked around the barn in stunned disbelief.
“How? What? Holy s**t I feel tingly!”
“Magic.” He motioned to where the horses were already hitched up to the sleigh.
“Nick! We got here from the center of town in a literal footstep!” She was excitedly bouncing around the barn. “This is incredible. Absolutely incredible. I can feel it all over my skin. Why?”
