Serenity's POV
After two weeks of being home, I was going a little stir crazy. Thankfully, my mom allowed my sister Haley to stay home with me today. I wasn't feeling well and hadn't been for about a week. My mom and I suspected my mental health played a large part in that and having my sister home for a day off from classes would help.
I laid in my bed. I had been doing that for over a week now. I did my school work here and even missed training for the past few days. I was so tired I could barely get out of bed, constantly sick to my stomach, a result of constant anxiety, and had a sharp pain in my stomach a lot of the time.
I was anxious a lot. Emma was still pursuing Luka and she wasn't letting up. We all agreed, including his father, that entertaining it in anyway was a bad idea. He ignored her as much as possible but she was persistent. She followed him around, flirted with him constantly and was texting him often. She tried her best to win over his affection and it was driving me crazy. Not that it was working at all, but her being so disrespectful was frustrating.
Haley and I had been sitting around in my room chatting all day. I was sipping ginger soda and chewing mint gum to help settle my stomach.
“Alright, I have to pee.” I said. As I sat up, I felt a very sharp pain in my lower stomach as I had been for several days. I flinched and cursed in pain.
Haley's eyes got wide. “How long has that been going on?”
“A week.”
“You need to go to the doctor. You're sick, and it shouldn't be going on this long. Why don't you ask one of the Omegas to take you while mom's out?” Haley asked.
“Good idea.” I said. The Omegas were lower level wolves. We never treated them differently but they were always available to help out. I went to the bathroom and then walked downstairs to see if anyone was around to drive me to the doctor's office.
I found someone and sent my mom a message to let her know I would be going to the doctor. I was fine and didn't need her to rush home over a stomach bug. We knew the doctor well and I trusted her to take care of me.
I checked in and explained what was going on to the nurse. She let the doctor know. After a short wait, another nurse came out and called for me. The Omega agreed to wait in the waiting room to give me privacy and the nurse took me back into the room. She asked the usual questions and gave me a cup to pee in. She told me the doctor would be in soon.
When the doctor came in, she was dragging a machine behind her.
“Okay Serenity, I just want to confirm something I saw on your test.” She said. “Lay back and pull your shirt up.” I did ask she asked and she took a wand out to put on my stomach. I thought all of the possibilities through. Horrible stomach bleed? Cancer? “Do you see this little bean here?”
“Yes.” I said. “What is it?”
“That is your baby. You're pregnant, about three weeks along. Wolf pregnancies are only nine weeks, so you've got about a month and a half until you give birth.” The doctor said.
“You're sure?” I asked. She nodded.
On the way home, a million things were running through my mind. I was ruining Luka's life, I was hurting the pack. Luka had a mate out there. Would she even want him if he already had a child? Would our pack's future Luna refuse her mate because of our baby? What would happen to the pack if that happened?
Would my mate want me? How would I face my mate having already had a child? How would I raise a child? My parents were going to kill me. Luka's parents were going to kill him. They'd know what a disaster this could turn into. If he was a father, his mate may not want him. The pack would lose their fated Luna. I couldn't let that happen.
I ran through the possibilities. I threw out the thought of terminating before it even started. I knew I would never be able to do it. I saw the little bean on the screen and couldn't abandon it. I couldn't go through an entire pregnancy and give birth with no one seeing, so staying home and leaving it on someone's doorstep to raise wasn't an option either.
I finally realized it – I would have to leave. I'd need to run away, seek asylum in another pack and raise my baby there. Most packs were rivals and would surely take in a girl trying to escape the infamous Scorched Earth pack. I decided that I would give it a few more days and then I would write a note to Luka and leave.
