Serenity's POV
Whenever my parents told me stories about their upbringing, I was envious of the fact that they got to homeschool. It seemed like every kid's dream. Wake up when you wanted, not have to get dressed, be home with all of the food you liked, and have an easy day. They didn't know any different so for them, it was fun. For me, switching from regular school to home school was depressing.
I woke up early every morning. I still had to go to training in the morning, and now I was working one on one with the top warriors in the pack to make sure I would know how to defend myself if the need ever arose. Luka and I gravitated toward each other a lot while we were in training but never got much time to talk or touch during training time. After training, we'd all go into our homes. I'd shower and get dressed in comfortable clothes. Even though it was only 6am, once Luka was showered and dressed, he'd come over and we'd have a quick breakfast together before he went to school. I hated spending all day without him and when he left in the morning, I would get extremely sad and anxious.
I'd usually go back to sleep for an hour or two and then I'd work on school work. My parents were communicating with the school that I was ill and would be for a long time and needed to be home. The school was happily sending work to me and my parents would help me with my work. Anything I needed help on, Luka or Mika would help me with when they got home. It was long and lonely during the day.
Once Luka got home, we'd go outside together and get to sit together for the wolf side of our education. It was at least a nice ending to the day to be with my pack and my partner. After that, Luka and I would have a few hours to hang out. Sometimes we were allowed to stay the night together, but our parents were trying to make sure we had a healthy relationship and time apart sometimes.
I worried constantly that Luka would find his mate. I had no idea what I would do if he found her and broke up with me. He felt like the only person in the world who mattered and I could never imagine spending time with anyone else or dating anyone else. I shoved the thought out of my mind every time it started to consume me.
Kale hadn't been in school very often either according to Luka. When he was there, he didn't speak to Luka. He had questioned my siblings a few times asking where I was and they told him I was very sick and unable to come to school.
According to Alpha Kayne's discussion with Erika, she had made sure Kale's family knew that the type of magic they had used on me was not allowed in any capacity. Magic should never be used by anyone to hold someone against their will and doing so would result in their powers being stripped. We still weren't confident that he wouldn't try anything outside of magic, so I still stayed home. We hadn't decided yet if it would be temporary.
Today, Luka came home from school upset. We got through our night time classes with the Elders and went to his room to talk. He lit incense and I sat in his chair so we could talk about what got him worked up.
“Kale finally talked to me today.” Luka said. My face went cold.
“What did he say?” I asked.
“He knows we had s*x. He came to the cabin that night and watched the whole thing. His mom never had a vision about it, he physically watched us.” Luka said. I felt sick. “He told me you'll be his someday, whether you like it or not, so I better have my fun now because you'll be under him soon enough.” He was red and shaking, obviously very angry.
“It's okay Luka, none of that is true. You said yourself that he can't get to me.'
“You're right, I know. Then something else happened, though. There's a new girl at school.” Luka said. My heart dropped, he'd found his mate.
“She introduced herself to me. Emma. She looks like you almost. The same silvery blonde hair. The same blue eyes. You're prettier, of course. She said I'm her mate. It can't be true, though. I'm seventeen, if she was my mate, I would feel the mate bond.” He said.
“So she's not your mate?” I asked.
“No.”
“What a relief.” I said with a huge breath out.
“I think she knows Kale. I think Kale put her up to it. I think he was hoping to distract or confuse me. She tried to sit with me at lunch and offer me sips of her drink. My guess is that it's laced with something that would make me fall in love with her. I could be crazy, I guess. I really think he's trying to get us apart.” Luka said.
“What are you going to do?” I asked.
“Talk to my dad and get advice. I think maybe go along with it to get her here and question her, but only as a last resort.”
