Chapter Fifteen - Found

922 Words
Luka's POV “Luka... Ben has her at the pack hospital in Earth Moon territory. His patrols chased Kale off. Get in the car, we'll go see her.” My dad said. Ben was my Uncle and the Alpha of the Earth Moon pack. Reading Serenity's note had crushed me. I'd spent the entire morning crying and begging the Elders to just let me tell her she was my mate. I needed to put a stop to this, Serenity needed to stop worrying about me finding my mate. I had found her. The drive to Earth Moon's pack hospital was silent. Serenity's parents were in the back with my dad and I up front. I wasn't much of an emotional person, but the morning I'd had was overwhelming and ripped my heart out of my chest. Silent tears fell down my face and I had no shame about it. We arrived at the hospital and checked in. We were directed to a waiting room near her room so the doctor could let us know what had happened and what was currently going on. We didn't wait long. “Hi, guys. I'm Dr. Bailey. I've been looking after Serenity the last few hours. She came in dehydrated with a severe concussion. She's stable but still unconscious currently. The baby is okay. We've been monitoring her and she's a fighter like her mom. She's hanging in there just fine, perfectly healthy.” The doctor said. My heart sank to my stomach. “B-baby?” I stuttered out. Serenity's mom and dad looked over at me with death glares. “What baby?” “Serenity is four weeks pregnant. You didn't know?” The doctor asked. “No.” All four of us answered all together. We were led to her room. Her parents stayed back and let me take the seat near her bed. Her stomach was exposed with monitors on to keep an eye on the baby. My mind was all over the place. I was overjoyed at the news of being a father but scared as hell. I was also even more heartbroken that she thought she needed to leave, to raise our child alone. I imagined what she must've been going through for almost half of a pregnancy without me supporting her and then thinking she'd have to leave to protect me. “Luka.” Serenity gently whispered. “Hi, sweetie. Don't sit up, just rest.” I said. I stood and went to kiss her forehead. “I want to make sure both of you are okay.” Her face went pale. “They told you?” “Yes. Serenity, I would never leave you alone with our child. If I find my mate, I would reject her if she couldn't accept my child. You won't go through this alone. I know now, and we're together. You're not going anywhere, I'm going to take care of you both.” I promised her. She started crying and I held her for a long time until she settled back into sleep. Once I was sure she was asleep, I pulled my dad out of the room. “I have to tell her, dad. How can I let her think I have a mate out there somewhere? That stress isn't good for the baby. She shouldn't have to worry about if I'm going to find my mate and leave or if this mate she thinks is coming for me is going to reject me because I have a child. She's my mate and she shouldn't be worrying.” I said. “This is... unprecedented, Luka. Typically no one mates until, well, they find their mate. It's very rare to have a pup so young and before the mate bond is discovered. I will have to talk it over with the Elders.” My dad said. “Listen to me. You need to step up, now. I could lecture you a million times over for not being safe, but it's too late. You have to be a father now. Do you understand?” “I understand. I don't know what I'm doing, but I'll try. I had a good role model.” I said. We hugged. He told me he was going to have to call my mother and it was up to me to handle Serenity's parents. That was going to be the hard part. “Is she still asleep?” I asked. Her parents both nodded. “My dad is speaking to the Elders to see if I can just tell her. At this point, well, I hate to say it this way, but the damage is done.” “We just found out you two were dating and now you're having a baby in a little over a month. Were you not being safe? Serenity is only sixteen. She has school. She shouldn't worry about motherhood. You should have wanted more for her than that.” Makayla, Serenity's mom, said. “I didn't think about it to be totally honest. I love her. I promise I will make sure that I take care of her and the baby. She'll still get her education even if I have to home school too so we can both take care of the baby while we do school work. I promise you, this is my responsibility and I will take care of them.” I said. Serenity started waking up so I left to be by her side. They'd removed the monitors from the baby because she was doing so well. I could see the small bump forming and ran my hand over it. I had never expected things to go this way but I was completely in love with them both.
