Serenity's POV
“How was your day, guys?” My mom asked Luka and I as we sat gathered with all of our families in the kitchen of the pack house.
“It was fun.” I said.
“We had a good time!” Luka chimed in. It had been a fun day and both of us had earned tans from walking in the sun.
Dinner was filled with love and laughter. We were surrounded by our family, sharing good food and reminiscing. We loved to share stories and memories, the good and the bad, on birthdays and spend the evening laughing and joking.
I blew out the candles on my cake and so did Mika, who I had shared a party with every year without complaint. Afterwards, we went outside to have a fire and do some dancing. We put a big stereo out in the training field and played our favorites.
Inevitably, I ended up dancing with Luka. We were being silly, shaking our hair and jumping all over the place. He took my hand to spin me and I felt my stomach flutter in a way I hadn't before. It was a strange feeling, and once again, I was grasping at straws.
We sat around by the fire after tiring ourselves out from all of the dancing and food. We listened to the Elders share advice and give blessings for the year to come.
“Alright, we should head in.” Luka's father, Alpha Kayne, said.
“I'll put the fire out, dad, we'll probably stay up a while longer if that's okay.” Luke spoke up. His dad gave him a hard stare, but agreed. Everyone filed out and went into their homes, leaving just Luka and I by the fire.
We talked about school for a while, about our classes and the teachers we liked or didn't like. Luka talked to me about his car, a lot of which I didn't understand, but I listened intensely anyway. We finally got to my most dreaded topic, Kale.
“I don't know, I just don't like the way he looks at you.” Luka explained after a long winded explanation of why he didn't like Kale. “You're not allowed to do anything, you can't even speak to another guy. Imagine if he knew you were out here? Oof.”
“I know he isn't good for me. He's hurt me, physically, on multiple occasions. He always has to be right, and even when I argue my side, he cuts me off and bullies me until I just back off and say he's right. It's like I'm not allowed to have an opinion. I'm not allowed to stand up for myself at all.” I said. My voice trailed off as I became obviously upset. My relationship with Kale was toxic and frustrating. Even though it felt good most of the time to have someone to kiss, hold hands with, hug and talk to all day, the real of it was that he was not good to me. Luka put his arm around my shoulders and pulled me in for a side hug.
“You deserve someone who treats you a lot better. You deserve someone who wakes up every morning and just wants to make you happy, who puts you before anything else. You deserve someone who really loves you and not just the thought of you. Someone who values your opinion instead of squashing it.” Luka said.
We had leaned closer during this exchange and sparks were settling in my stomach. My breath hitched and before I knew it, our heads had leaned together and we were kissing. Our lips moved perfectly together and our bodies melted their way comfortably against each other. There was no awkwardness or bad feelings.
We both gasped as we pulled apart. “I'm sorry, Serenity, I shouldn't have-” Luka said.
I pulled his face back to mine to kiss him some more. He deepened the kiss, making my insides heat up and my breath become staggered. We kept kissing until I leaned back, and Luka climbed on top of me. We were still kissing. I knew what I was feeling, wolves were well-educated in s*x education and like most teenagers, I had done some exploring on my own, but I hadn't expected things would heat up like this so quickly.
I pushed Luka's hand downward, trying to hint at him what I was hoping for. When he didn't seem to get the hint, I unbuttoned my shorts without breaking our make-out session. He moved his hand to my stomach and broke our kiss.
“You're okay? You're sure?” He asked me.
“Yes.” I assured him. Every fiber of my being wanted him.
He wiggled his hand into my shorts and panties, giving me exactly what I wanted.
We continued for several moments until I was finished. We stopped kissing and smiled at each other shyly.
“Well, that took an unexpected turn.” Luka whispered.
“I know. Today, I just started feeling something for you. It's been fuzzy and static all day over my whole body.” I said.
“I feel it too.” Luka admitted.
“Maybe we'll get lucky and we won't find our mates for a while.” I said.
“Yeah, maybe.” Luka mumbled.
Luka put out the fire and walked me to my house. He did a suspicious look around to check for either one of our sets of parents, and quickly pecked me on the lips before saying goodnight and then walking me home.
I immediately started feeling guilty. I liked Luka, I didn't regret any actions in terms of how I felt about him. However, it wasn't fair to Kale to get cheated on even if he wasn't the greatest to me. I promised myself I would make a decision between the two of them and act on it quickly.
