I heard the door open. A female voice reverberated along the walls. The tone held no nastiness, no vulgarity, only gentleness. Just in hearing the clear timbre of her voice, I understood how Frank could have fallen in love with her. She had the kindness that Frank liked. Curiosity overcame me; I had to see who this marvel was that had held onto Frank for so long. I slipped on the t-shirt and my knickers, and stuck my head out into the corridor. The young woman smiled at me when she saw me. An angel was looking at me. Quite the opposite of what I’d imagined. She had an aura of calm. She was radiant, magnificently dazzling.
