Chapter Six

We go back to the hotel only to be surprised by the receptionist saying that our room are ready for us. We look at each other and say Tess. She really hooked us up we have the penthouse to our self’s. I thought that we would have our rooms on the main floor I say. There are enough for each of us to have our own bed. For some reason everyone wants to sleep near me. It’s kind of frustrating to be honest. The twins are the first to talk. We can’t sleep if we are worried about you all night. I roll my eyes and say fine. Just no talking and you all stay you of my bed. I mean all, I say pointing at Kale and Aiden. They both huff and say fine. Cat shifts into her leopard and crawls on the foot of the bed just as sleep takes over. I’m in the darkest forest I have ever seen. It’s at the cusp of dawn and I’m surrounded by were-beasts. There all looking at me, waiting for something. I hear a snap of a branch and a woman that looks like my mom comes out of the woods. Next to her was a wolf and in her shoulder was a golden eagle. She smiles and says you are the one fated to bring peace. Then everything fades out and I’m back in the hotel room. I look at the clock its 12:30. Why can’t I just go back to sleep, I think. I grab the book that I forgot about till just now. Open it and read the message on the cover. To my little raven, I had hoped that I would tell you of your family myself but if I was unable to. I am sorry I love you more than anything in the world love mom. I started sobbing as I re read the message. Then after a couple minutes I turned the page and started reading.

1815,

The Fey Counsel is hunting us. For reasons we no not. I fear that my unborn child will be hunted as well. We are a dying clan. Once we were in the hundreds now, we are so very few. May be in the low to single digits. I hope my child is a male, for he will not be hunted and can live as a normal child not a child of lust. (There is a family tree with all the names of the women)

At the base is a woman by the name of Astarte. She had four sons and one daughter. Her daughter was very beautiful and became cursed by a witch for her beauty to always be found wanting and in lust, but never find her other half. So, to will all her daughters after her. She had two daughters who each had more children. Until the great purge of 1815. The family tree was all but burned to the ground except for Laya who is my great grandmother.

1905

Laya had twins a boy and a girl. I left my son with an Alpha whom I seduced and tricked him into believing that he was his own child. I know that he will be safe, but I must keep my little one safe. I haven’t even named her out of fear. I can feel that the hunters are getting near every day and I am in fear all the time. We must leave for this so-called promise land across the pond.

1950

Mother has been taken from me by a hunter they call dark night. I call him Adam and have lulled him into my bed. We are with child and like my mother I hoped that it would be a boy, but I was not lucky at all. She has my eyes. That seems to be the only trait that all us girls have in common. She has jet black hair and the most beautiful skin. I can only be happy for a little while though. I know that we are the last of our kind. Adam knows to and we are able to evade the hunters for a while, but I know deep down that we can’t outrun them forever.  

2000

Just like my mother Kayla, I am writing in hopes that one day my running while be over. I am so tired of running and just want to give in. I know that I can not do that for Tayla I will run for my entire life. I meet a man whom I did not want to force to be with me and we had a wonderful night that gave me my beautiful baby girl. She has my eyes like the women before me and my hair except a red streak. I am hopeful that she can change our fate.

2007

I fear this will be the last time that I get to see my little raven. Paul told me that rouges have breached the perimeters of the pack. We are no longer safe. I have set Paul free. He doesn’t need to feel my pain when I go.

I hear a low whimper and look away from the book to see cat looking at me. I look outside and see the sun rising over the horizon to let us know it’s a new day. I get out of bed and say, Okay its time for the trials. Is everyone ready?
