Divorced.

Heartbroken.

Rejected.

Sara never expected that a night of pleasure would leave her with a mark.

She might have called it a one-night stand but that wasn't the case.

This stranger would become more to her than just a stranger.

When she feels her life has started taking a sweet joy ride, this stranger shows up uninvited.

Her life begins to crumble and enemies begin to rise from every corner.

The same stranger she swore never to have anything to do with now becomes her shield, protecting her and going one step ahead of her right into danger.

No matter how much she tries to move away, their strings remain entangled and their lives can't just stay apart.

Two totally different people, conflicted by their past must find a way to make each other fit into their lives or better still watch their purpose break.

Five years meant nothing
SARA POV I’ve been busy all day trying to sort out files at the company. Arranging my schedule for the next day after office work is a lot on me. I can’t complain because I don’t trust people with my life. I walked to the window while stretching and watching the cold night, my phone flashed light and I whyn over to check, it’s my mom; “My granddaughter needs her mom you workaholic.” I let a smile out, took my bag, and left for my mom’s place. The walk outside was quiet, the closing time is 6 pm, something felt special about today so I asked my employees to go home around 4 pm. I got into my Ice Gray Metallic Porsche Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid, heading to my mom’s place. The drive was an hour, while parking in the parking lot, my daughter screamed; “Mommy you’re here.” I let out a smile and hurriedly went to meet her, she kissed me and set off to get her box. I watched her go in while jumping; “She’s smart.” My mom said while patting me. “She took after me obviously.” We chuckled. “Mom, Granny picked me up from school today. Guess what she said?” Anna asked. “What did your granny say?” “Granny word,” she let my left hand rest on her back, “I hope you don’t like your mom, at 5 she would beat up anyone who crosses her.” Anna mimicked her granny’s voice while giggling. “Mom!” I called out. “Yes, you are a fighter, I’m just making sure she’s not like you.” “Bye, Mom.” “Bye, Granny.” Then we left, the drive home was forty to fifty minutes. I helped Anna carry her box as we set out for the parlor. “Dad!” She screamed while running to her dad's room, she does this every day. At this point, I don’t know if she loves her dad more than she loves me. I sat on the chair, exhausted, went over to the remote then my eyes caught a document on the table. I took it up reluctantly to check the context then froze, my heart beat increased by ten, my hands were shaking, the air felt very tiny, and I didn’t know if I should cry or laugh. Five years of marriage, five years of trying to fix you, five years of trying to please you, five years trying to make you love me all meant nothing. Because I refused to hand over my company to James, he filed for divorce. Do I laugh or do I cry? I spent five years of my life taking s**t from a guy whom I thought would one day love me, he would always tell me how not a wife I am, he raised his hands on me two nights ago when I refused to give him my company. A company my dad built with sweat before handing it over to me, yes I love him, but I would never give it up to prove my love. I fell back on the cushion, trying to process everything that was going on, I took my phone and dialed Maya’s number with my shaky hands. The phone rang once, twice then she picked up. “Hey baby girl,” Maya said excitedly. “Maya-,” I managed to say with my shaky voice as tears streamed down my cheek. “Calm down baby, what happened?” Maya asked. “He filed for divorce.” I finally said after a long pause. “Hold up, he did what? Have you signed it?” “No.” “I’m coming over.” She said before I hung up. “Mom!” Anna called, I wiped my tears off immediately. “I can’t find Dad, his clothes, or shoes.” “Anna baby, mommy has something to tell you, can you turn on your listening ears?” She rolled her hands on her ears, “Done, they are on.” “Daddy would no longer stay with us, he wouldn’t come back anymore.” I paused while waiting for her to react but got nothing. “Mommy loves you okay.” “And I love mommy more.” She said as she hugged me firmly. “Does that mean more movie nights with you?” “Yes honey, more movie nights with me.” “Yeppyyy!” She screamed while jumping. “Let’s go freshen up.” “While playing my music.” “Yes, baby.” Then everything fell. Minutes later my phone rang, Maya. “Girly what are you doing?” Maya asked. “Trying to put Anna to sleep.” “Come get the door.” “Alright,” I replied. I opened the door and she walked in, she was in a black long but sexy gown. The gown hugged her body revealing her curvy shape. “Where’s the papers?” “Here.” I pointed at them. “Get your pen.” “Wait what?” I asked in confusion. “Do you think I’d drive for thirty minutes just to call that son of the devil back? Or ask you to go back to him?” She paused. “Where’s my baby girl?” “She’s watching her favorite show.” “Okay, that’s my baby girl, she’s just like her amazing aunty.” “Who said you’re amazing?” I asked, then we laughed. “Get your pen, sign this paper. I’m sending it over to him, I’ve tracked down his location.” I was reluctant at first, “Girl do I have to remind you that you’re the only one in love in this marriage? He doesn’t love you, never had and never will, do you get that?” I went over and signed the documents, she signed as the witness to the divorce. “Let it stay here, when we are back I’d take it home.” “Back? I am confused.” “Yes back, I can’t be looking all sexy just to stay here. Go dress up, we are going to a party.” Maya said. “Party? That’s not a good idea, I’m not in the mood.” “Aren’t you tired of living a boring life? When last did we go to a club? That was five years ago, when you turned twenty. You got married and ever since then, you don’t attend clubs or parties, so now dress up or I’d dress you up.” “What of Anna?” “She has a granny who loves her and is willing to spend the night with her.” I phoned my mom, minutes later she was at the door, then we left. The party isn’t as fun as it used to be, I stood on one side watching Maya dance, she dragged me out to the stage but I was too shy to move my body. “Girl, you better lighten up your mood.” Maya said while handing me a glass of hot wine, I took the first glass, then the second and third before she let me off the stage. My eyes scanned the hall before meeting a tall guy in the blue spot. He had a dark suit on with grey eyes, held a glass of wine in his left hand looking so cute and sexy. His eyes met mine and both got locked, I felt something shift in my chest, not fear, not pain, but pleasure. I smiled and got no one in return, he didn’t smile or look away, he just fixed his eyes on me.
