After over 10 hours connie was finally home. She did not grow up here but she spend most of her summer holidays here with her nonna.and if she had a choice she could have stayed but her parents had business in states so that's where she grew up in. the fresh crisp air hit her lungs and she realized just how much she had missed this place. Her parents were waiting for her. the moment they saw her they ran up to her and hugged her tightly." you have gained a lot of weight Connie, you are not observing your diet " her mum couldn't help but say,"leave her alone maria she is sick and you are seeing her after 5 years , c'mon now" her dad chided. her mum apologized and held on to her tightly. she had been obsessed with fitness as long as Connie could remember from don't eat too much sugar it will make you fat to having to attend mandatory pilates and yoga classes as a young adult Connie did not let it bother her this was who her mother was and nothing was going to change but all in all she loved her so much she was her true best friend and biggest cheer leader. She was the strongest person Connie knew . shefadely recalled kids laughing at her back in middle school cause her mom never attended any of her parent teacher meeting nor even drove her to scool like other moms did that same night ahe had complained to her about it and soon after that she drove her to school daily an d even started cooking for them.shehad never missed any of her big days and she knew she would sacrifice her life just for her something she was very grateful for. Tears flowed down her face as she struggled to muff the sobs her mom noticed that and supported her to their waiting limo. she knew her daughter well. she was not crying because of her illness and something must have happened to make her this weak. and whoever did it was going to pay dearly. she handed her results to her mother who also happened to be a doctor. her dad held his wife's hand as they went through it together. her mom seemed calm while her dad who she always thought was strong, seemed to be fighting his tears." you cannot die sweetie, nooooo there must be a mistake some where, 12 months, you never felt any pain, why did you hide this from us Connie?"Her dad seemed to be lost in his thoughts. Anxiety clouded her mind once again.this was her reality now, she was going to die without anything in this world no legacy no nothing not even a child. her mom seemed lost too she stared at her only child not with pity but like some one who was seeing her for the first time. Throughout her career she had seen many cancer patients and could tell how they looked ,Connie did not look healthy , she was far from being healthy but she did not look like a cancer patient. The results were from a newly established private hospital in New york so she started doubting them. she had a feeling it might not be it. she decided to make arrangements for her baby to be tested again in their family friends' hospital here. She instructed the driver to drive them to the hospital immediately. Connie was suddenly nauseous. She had come to hate the smell of hospitals, and now it seemed that she was going to spend the rest of her life moving from one to another. she did not have the energy to refuse, so she just silently let her parents drag her inside. The needles ,smell of latex and the ugly white walls had her throwing up in an instant and the pain in her lower abdomen made it worse. she was going to die for sure, she told her self before passing out. 'Maria" and Damian sat at the edge of her bed both lost in their own thoughts. Damian remembered when she was born . he had traveled back to London for his undergraduate when he was informed Maria had gone to labor. he ad immediately booked a flight back home. his little girl was here. she was perfect. and he vowed to always protect her. seeing in pain now knowing he couldn't help her really hurt him . he held her free hand as the other had a drip in it. Maria, who was sitting next to him seemed to be far away. surprisingly Connie did not look her. He had joked severally that they had exchanged her baby in the delivery room something Maria brushed off every time, clearly not interested in the topic anymore. he pushed all those thoughts in the back of his mind as they were requested to leave the room as the doctor had to do his tests..
