Ey Did What, Now?
Some characters in this book don’t identify as “he” or “she.” It’s literally against their religion.
Seriously.
Members of the International Church of Zorda valorize gender neutrality and physical strength. They use the “holy pronoun” to refer to themselves and others and get pretty tetchy if you use the wrong pronoun when addressing them.
And did I mention they’re super strong? Yeah, you don’t want to piss off a Zord.
Lucky for you, the “holy pronoun” is easy to learn. Just think of it as a singular they with the “th” chopped off. (It’s called Spivak here on Earth.)
Did you get all that? Great. Now let’s go and check on Nigel.
