When Olivia Hawthorne's father, who was the former alpha of the Hawthorne pack, was dethroned and eliminated by the Alpha of the Lunarpath pack, it was debated wether she should be executed or allowed to live. After her life was spared, the son of Alpha Lunarpath, Lawrence, was bent on terrorizing the daughter of the former Hawthorne Alpha for fun. A few years later, Oliva hits her first heat at the age of 21, which is considered quite late for most werewolves. Suddenly both her and Lawrence realize there's a shift in their dynamic as it's revealed that they are destined mates.

The Past Isn't Just in the Past
The crowd howled loudly. Some cried in despair and some cheered with vigor as Alpha Ron Lunarpath held the former Alpha Gilmore Hawthorne's head above his own. The Hawthorne Pack had officially been dismantled and integrated into the Lunarpath Pack. After the crowd dispersed, Alpha Lunarpath met with his group of advisors. He had a dire concern they needed to discuss and quickly. Murmurs filled the room, eyes shot back and forth, brows were furrowed, and the occasional growl was heard. A man stood after some deliberation, he was massive compared to the other pack members there. An Elite, a werewolf super soldier bred for battle, and Alpha Lunarpath's right hand man. "Bring her in." He demanded in a militant tone as he looked toward a low-class omega servant. The servant skittered off and quickly returned with a young adult female. She hung her head low and heavy tears smeared her mascara. She was wearing a tattered, tight fitting, cocktail dress which was red in color. Her pale skin reflected the dim, fluorescent light hung in the brick laden room. Her hair resembled that of drizzling butter caramel and her tear-stricken eyes glistened a tidal wave of blues. Many of the males gawked at her, some shot hungry glances in her direction. The majority, though, sat back in their seats with concerned or thoughtful expressions. "Why in the world is she dressed like that? She looks like she's from the street. I thought she was the daughter of an esteemed Alpha!" Ron complained. The room was silent for a moment before the omega cleared his throat to speak, "Sir, if I may? It seems we unknowingly, um, 'crashed' this poor girl's 18th birthday party. She got pretty torn up from the commotion." He said with a solemn look on his face. A wave of soft awes filled the air. The room of rowdy males seemed to be saddened by the girl's status. The Alpha rose from his seat and approached the girl. She flinched away and raised her bound hands to protect herself. With a surprising gentleness, he laid a hand upon hers. "You have every reason to be afraid, my dear, but right now I intend you no harm and fighting me will only make this harder." He said in a soft, reassuring tone. The girl lowered her hands, she knows Alphas don't lie, they can't or they're liable to lose their Pack. Werewolves don't like liars. The Alpha tenderly checked her wrists, the nape of her neck, up and down her legs. "You haven't been marked. Did you find your mate tonight? Most do on their 18th birthday." He asked inquisitively. She simply shook her head 'no'. The gamma cleared his throat again. "Sir, she does not yet have the scent of first heat upon her." he stated curiously. The Alpha rose a brow. Late bloomers are quite rare and often symbolize good luck and prosperity for their Pack. He found this slightly ironic. He brought his hand up to his chin in a thinking gesture for a moment, then rose his head. "Olivia Hawthorne, is it?" Alpha Lunarpath questioned, Olivia nodded her head, "Traditionally, I would cull you along with your father, as offspring will often come back with a vengeance." He paused to let the reality of the situation sink in for her, "Although, I'm sure you are aware of the severe shortage of females as of recent and my Pack in particular is suffering immensely because of this. That is why I was forced to take over your father's Pack, it was that or die out. I hope you understand." The words lingered in the air for a minute before Olivia was taken over by heavy sobs. The Alpha's brow furrowed. "What I'm saying, dear Olivia, is that you are quite lucky. I'm allowing you to live with the hopes that you will bear children in order to help my Pack recover its numbers. Oh lucky you. Lucky, lucky you." The Alpha remarked almost snarkily, annoyed now by her lack of gratitude. Olivia didn't care, she simply continued to cry. Alpha Lunarpath became impatient with her tears and told the omega to escort her home and demanded two guards be posted outside her house at all times. As she left, the other werewolves filling the otherwise empty room began to grumble with dissatisfaction. Remarks were made that it was unfair that she was sent off instead of staying to "have fun". The Alpha pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration, he felt they were all idiots, the whole lot of them. Olivia rose from an unsettling slumber. She felt lucky to have gotten sleep last night though. As the anniversary of her father's death loomed ever closer the amount of sleep she got dwindled. She kicked her feet over the edge of the bed and prepared to lift herself up. As she got up she was hit with a little bit of vertigo. It was happening more and more recently but going to the Pack medic, Louis Wolfbane, did no good. He was sweet and gentle with her fragile heart and body, but no matter what he couldn't find the reason for her dizziness. Anemia was his first concern but that was ruled out when blood samples came back normal. Then he did a CT scan which also came back normal. He had her go through an MRI next which came back just as normal as the last two tests. In the end, he recommended she stay hydrated and come to see him once every two weeks. She picked up her phone to look at the time and date but paused for a moment to look at her background. It was the last image her mother, father, and her ever took before the divorce. Mom looked miserable in the photo, and Dad seemed annoyed, but it was all Olivia had to remember them by as the new Alpha wiped away all evidence of a former Alpha. Olivia didn't take it personally, though. It was customary when a Pack was taken over for that to happen. When she got to looking at the time, she stiffened. She was late for her bi-weekly appointment with the Pack medic. She quickly got dressed in the closest clothing she could find, sweatpants and an oversized men's tee-shirt that was second-hand from Louis himself. She slapped on some cheap, dollar store flats and ran out the door. "Halt! Desired location?" Barked the guard posted by her front door. She froze and groaned in frustration. "I need to get to Louis, I'm late for my appointment!" She cried out with impatience. The guard nodded. "Reason for departure approved. Be back before curfew or you will be forcefully collected." He replied almost robotically. Olivia rolled her eyes and sprinted towards the medic's office. As she threw open the door to the office, Louis was sitting on his desk eating something out of a tupperware bowl. He stopped, fork in hand, mouth open, and eyes wide as he looked at her. He was very handsome and kind. Olivia wished her wolf would awaken for her first heat and tell her she didn't have a destined mate. She would definitely try to make a pass on Louis in that case. After the Lunarpath takeover almost three years ago, he was the only Pack member who was kind to her. He was 28 years old but already had a full head of silvery-white hair which made him look older. It was long enough to go past his hips when it was down, but generally he kept it up in a ponytail to keep it out of his face while he worked. He had gentle, yet masculine features and a deep, smooth voice that could quickly put you to sleep. He always kept the top three buttons of his shirt undone to expose some of his chest which made him look tastefully disheveled. He smiled warmly at the sight of Olivia and hopped off his desk. He walked over to her and embraced her tightly. Her face squished into the exposed part of his chest and she got a full whiff of his scent. Her eyes rolled back a little as she shut them. He smelled amazing. "My dear, Olivia! I was afraid you had entered your first heat, found your mate, and had no time for me anymore!" He rejoiced. After Louis greeted Olivia, he quickly examined her. Louis touched her in places that made her slightly blush but she knew he was just doing what doctors are supposed to. Part of Olivia fantasized about Louis passionately taking her virginity in the office as she came into her first heat. She laid upon the medical table as he checked her heartbeat with a stethoscope, pressing the device gently against her tender breast, she began to feel a hint of warmth and a squirming in her belly. She sat up a little and looked at the medic with concern, gripping tightly onto his wrist which was pressed upon her. "What's wrong, my dear Olivia? Did I hurt you?" Louis inquired with a worried voice. As Olivia told him her symptoms an inexplicable expression crossed his face. Olivia couldn't tell what he was feeling, he looked sad but somehow slightly excited. He leaned in close to her and gently slid his hand up to caress the side of her head. Her heart began to race and the warmth she felt ramped up. "May I?" Louis asked sweetly as he leaned his face close to hers. Olivia nodded, not exactly knowing what he was asking for, but wanting to find out. Was her fantasy about to become reality? She yelped as the medic buried his nose into the nape of her neck and deeply inhaled. She heard his breathing become irregular as he took in her scent. She could swear a growl lightly escaped his lips. He pushed her down onto the table and began hungrily pressing his nose deeper into her neck. She felt his breath hit her as he panted desperately. The sound of him licking his teeth became ever audible. Oliva's stomach tightened. Was he about to mark her? There's no way, she thought. She was sure the attraction she felt for him was one-sided. Stop him now. A voice rang in Olivia's head. He isn't mine. Suddenly Olivia flung her hands up and pushed Louis away by his shoulders. She was shocked as she had no control over her body at that moment. When she looked at his face it somewhat scared her. His deep green eyes were dark and his pupils became tight, animalistic slits. His chest rose and fell deeply as his panting slowed to an eventual stop and his breathing became normal again. He closed his eyes and shook his head. When he opened his eyes they were far more human looking. His face was red with a deep blush and he looked into Olivia's eyes lustfully. He seemed disappointed by her reaction but respectfully leaned back and sat at the edge of the table. He wiped his face as he had just been drooling over her scent. "I'm so sorry, my dear Olivia. It's just..." He paused for a moment to catch his breath, "You are, indeed, coming into heat and your scent just... Well it-" Louis planted his head into his hands. He seemed to become worried. "Olivia, please don't leave me and never come back once you've found him. I swear I can control myself. I can desire you and not act upon it." Louis begged with his voice cracking. Olivia lifted a brow, it definitely didn't seem like he could control himself. She thought about it and realized she had accidentally given him consent, though she couldn't be blamed either because he didn't make what he truly wanted clear. Olivia's heart thudded as she realized if anything she was the pervert here. For three long years, every time she visited him, she daydreamed of him romantically taking her on the very table they were sitting on. She felt disappointed realizing it had almost happened but something within her stopped it. She looked over at him and noticed he was rubbing his face with a worried expression. She leaned over and rested her hand on his knee. He stopped and looked over at her. Olivia's eyes widened as she noticed tears collecting in his. "When. No. If I find him I promise I'll still drop by for my appointments. Even if the dizziness goes away I'll visit you. Please don't be sad, Louis. I care a lot about you." Olivia said with a sad smile. Louis' expression darkened a little as he looked over at her. "What if you don't find him?" Louis asked in a solemn voice. He looked as if he had just gambled away all his life savings. "If I don't find him I guess I'll just have to be yours, Louis." Olivia said reassuringly. Louis smiled a little and embraced the small female. "Thank you so much, Olivia. Thank you for considering dreary, old me as a suitable mate in the event yours is out of reach." He said with melancholic gratitude, "It's good you stopped me. Your body isn't fully in heat yet so I may have accidentally harmed you if I had-" He stopped himself before he got excited again. "We should both cool down for a minute before you go, Olivia. If you leave this office smelling the way you do, I'd have to tear apart every male that approaches you." He stated in a cold tone of voice. Olivia could tell he was serious. She blushed a little at his possessiveness. They sat and talked for a while with a fan set up across from them. When Louis said 'cool off' he meant it literally. Olivia found out that Louis had an unprecedented amount of medical themed jokes that were quite hit or miss. He smiled when he made her laugh. After about fifteen minutes Louis walked Olivia to the door of the office. "Now, Olivia. Go get something nice and warm to eat, stew or something of the likes. Make sure it's rich in meat. Extra points if it has a nutritious carb in it. You want to be well fed while going into heat because it's tough on your body. At the peak of your heat you will turn for the first time. After this, you establish a connection to your inner wolf and she will reveal your destined mate. Oh, and please make sure to drink enough wa-" Louis divulged before he got interrupted by his office door slamming open. A massive male stepped in. He was smaller than an Elite but larger than your average werewolf. He was the Alpha's son, Lawrence Lunarpath. "Hey, Doc..." He greeted with his head in one of his hands, eyes closed, "I got real dizzy like twenty minutes ago. Think you can check me o-" He stopped as he opened his eyes and saw Olivia. He scrunched and upturned his nose. "Ew, what is that pathetic runt doing here?" He asked, pointing a rude finger in her direction. Olivia saw a streak of rage cross Louis' face before he quickly slapped on a fake smile. "She's just here for a check-up, sir. Olivia, why don't you go ahead to the mess hall and grab some food like I said. I'll drop by your house later to make sure you're still okay after what happened today." Louis said, patting her back gently. Lawrence shot a disgusted gaze her way as she passed him out the door. His expression turned from disgust to curiosity after she passed, though. She smelled absolutely wonderful today. How odd. You should visit her in her room later tonight. Lawrence's wolf wolf whispered. There's no way in hell he'd ever catch himself seeking that ungrateful brat of a she-wolf, he thought to himself. We'll see. His wolf taunted.
