If he hadn’t cheated on her, it would have been fine.

Meet Eileen and Emily, half-sisters born by their heroic father, who happened to be the late Beta of Bindi Pack. Eileen was the legitimate daughter while Emily was born of an affair. Even at that, Emily was treated as Eileen’s equal.

Fast forward, Eileen gets mated to the Alpha but Emily would have nothing like that. She vows to bring Eileen down, and she does, but doing this becomes a stepping stone for Eileen’s true fate.

On this quest for power and revenge, sweat and blood must be shed. The battle of wits and strength doesn’t end until one is down.

CHAPTER 1
How it all began Eileen's POV “Pick it up. Now!” my father said out of anger. I refused to eat the same meal as my half-sister, Emily, and this had infuriated him. But then, I was supposed to have a choice. I was raised by my father, who is the Beta of Bindi Pack. He was not only a man known for his wisdom, but also for his bravery. Until his death, he served three different Alphas. My father was legendary, and he was loved by all. It would be no lie if I claimed that my father had more authority than the current Alpha. He was the only one who could rally the entire army. Why? It had to be because of how he had led them in bad and good times and bled with them on the battlefield. Clean and pure, that was what my father was. And yeah, he was supposedly loyal to my mother until the day he fell into the hands of a harlot. I was told the tale by the oldest male servant in my father's mansion, and he claimed my father went on a royal assignment and spent his night in a brothel. He always refused, harlots but on this particular cold night, he gave in to one beautiful woman who happened to get pregnant for him just on that one-night stand of theirs. If he had endured that cold night alone, life would have been easier for me. Well, my mother was pregnant with me then and this harlot came to my father and urged him to take responsibility. My father was in his early thirties then and he was already a Beta. Unwilling to soil his reputation, he accepted to take responsibility like a man would. He had no children, and he wasn't in the position to reject any. On the same day, my mother and my father's concubine gave birth. My mother had me, Eileen Inn, while my father's concubine had his illegitimate daughter, Emily Inn. Right there, the cold hands of fate worked. Both my mother and my father's concubine died in labor. How my father survived that fright is something that I can't find an answer to. Well, it happened, and my dad would have lost everything in one night. He lost two women but he had two daughters. But this was the beginning. It was the beginning of a rivalry which would end in blood. But what could I do? Fate was cruel on us. This is the beginning of our story. *** I can still remember that incident when Emily and I were six years old. We had the same birthday and my dad wanted us to do everything together. However, we were miles apart. Still, my father, Chris Inn, never gave up. He made us wear the same garments, eat the same food, have the same playtime, and get schooled together by our tutors. I didn't dislike it at first but Emily made me. I was the chatty type, always looking for someone to talk to but the same wasn't for Emily. She was rather reserved and even though I didn't recognize it at six, I knew she disliked talking to me. This was a pain in my ass. “Before we end the class, who will answer the riddle on the board?” The tutor asked. I looked at him and then back at Emily who stood up right away. “I am always coming but never arrive. Yet my presence felt like a guiding light. In my Pack's heart, I shine brightest. However, I only reveal myself when shadows take flight…” I read silently. “The answer is…” Emily smiled. “The moon!” “Exactly!” The tutor clapped. He looked so delighted, and I was only going to find out the reason when I looked outside the window. There, my father, Chris Inn, was looking at both of us. I didn't need to be told that he was impressed by my half sister's intelligence. So, I started it. Sure, here is the part where I go clean. I couldn't bear my half sister being over me in academics and I studied harder and became competitive. Gradually, I overshadowed her and my father showered encomiums on me. Emily was displeased since she got nothing but his smile when she was doing well. I was pleased, but in my mind, I thought Emily was being cheated. I had this thought in my mind until I became fifteen. I never went to Emily's room since she valued her privacy and my room was a no-go-area for her as well. Both of us spoke in monosyllables and by this time, I was not immature again. I had other friends and I had more maids. There was nothing I wanted from her. But that day, Emily was not at home and my father wanted me to get him something. He didn't trust the maids and I became the one who sent the errand. On entering the room, I felt intimidated. Emily had so many precious stones in her drawer. They were the likes I have never seen before in my life. My father wanted my own room without precious things as he claimed they were too extravagant for me. I turned towards my maid who was with me. Her name was Fiona. “Who do you think bought all these precious ornaments and jewels?” I asked with jealousy taking over me gradually. “It is undoubtedly your father, miss!” Fiona replied confidently. “Miss Emily has no other sponsor who we know of. Actually, I have noticed this before. I didn't know your father had been doing this to you and…” “Shh!” I shunned her. “You talk too much. How about giving me a chance to think for myself?” “I'm sorry, miss,” Fiona bent her head downwards. I took a look around and eventually, I found out what would anger me the most. Hanging in Emily's room was the wildlife painting which I personally chose for my father. I begged him so hard to have it, but he claimed he wanted it for his office. Here it was, in Emily's room. I stormed out of the room, forgetting all I went for. I couldn't accept this anymore. For the first time in my life, I went to my father angrily. He was always at his office and at fifteen years old I had so much energy that I could attempt to barge in. “Beta Chris instructed us to let nobody in, miss!” The guards stopped me. “But I am his daughter!” I shouted angrily. “Do not make this hard for us, please. We will be punished if we let you in,” one of the guards told me frankly. I was usually empathetic, but this time, I couldn't care less. “I dare you to lay your filthy hands on me!” I told them firmly. I went into my father's office and they could not stop me. No matter how crazy they could be, I remained the only legitimate daughter of the Beta. Apart from the children of the Alpha, I was the next in line. My father could hear me enter, but he kept working on that piece of document. He was sweating and I guess work was hectic. “We need to talk, father!” I told him boldly. “I hope this talk isn't about what you found in Emily's room,” my father muttered. “And if it is,” I continued. “Then there would be no need to discuss it. I expect you to be more mature than this, kiddo,” my father replied. I clenched my fists and looked into his eyes. This injustice had to stop and it would be today. I picked up his vase and smashed it on the floor in anger. My father jumped out of his chair like he had never done before and came closer towards me. For the first time in my life, I was so scared. He pushed me against the wall with his hands firmly placed on my neck. I gasped in fear. My hands were shaking already.
