Damien's POV
"Hurry your ass up!" I yelled at Sebastian. Even when he is speeding, he drives like a grandpa. I took control and sped the car up faster.
"We can't save Sage, if we are dead, dumbass," Sebastian said fighting to take back control. I pushed him even further back. I continued to focus on the road and drove as fast as I could.
We pulled into her driveway in front of her house. I ran out of the car towards the front door. f**k, it's locked! I started to throw Sebastian's entire human body into the door hoping to tear it down. It barely moved. I looked around to see if anyone was watching or out. No one was around. I could smell wolves, rogues. They were in the house. I quickly took off the pajamas and shifted into my large, muscular, and beautiful body. I backed up and charged at the door. I did it two more times before the door flew off of its hinges into the living room. As I landed on top of it, my black eyes were met with two small wolves in front of me. Their smell told me that they were rogues. I could sense fear coming off of them. They probably have never seen a wolf my size.
"I'd get the f**k out of here if I were you," I growled in a deep voice. They yelped and quickly ran past me out of the house. I knew they weren't the only ones. There was one more wolf. I took a step forward, and a raggedy, gray wolf stepped out of Sage's parents room. He was also a rogue, but he was slightly bigger than the other two who ran. We locked eyes, and he started to charge at me. As he reached me, I grabbed his body and threw him out the large bay window in the living room. I watched him, ready to kill if he charges me again. He stood up and looked back at me.
"Lavender Grove will be back," he said then ran off into the black, rainy night. What is Lavender Grove? Why do they want Sage? I shifted back into Sebastian's weak body and put back on the pajamas.
"Sage? What happened? Where are you?" I yelled and ran to her room. She wasn't in there. I started to panic and searched all the rooms upstairs. She wasn't anywhere to be found. She also was not answering me. f**k! I ran downstairs and into her parents bedroom. She was standing in the middle of the room or at least what was left of the room. They destroyed everything. They turned the room upside down clearly looking for something, but what? "There you are. Are you okay?" I said and wrapped my arms around her. I felt her put her arms around me. She couldn't speak. Her face was soaked from her tears. She held the photo of her parents while she held me tight. I could feel the fear and panic pulsing through her. Even though she is safe, she can't calm down. I started to take some of her fear and panic. Being able to do that means that she is clearly our mate. As I took on more and more of her fear, I could feel her start to relax. She still hadn't spoken to me at all. She just kept staring blankly ahead as she hugged me.
I picked her up and carried her to the living room. I settled her onto the couch and put a blanket around her. I grabbed her a glass of water and sat next to her. I wrapped my arms around her again. I wanted to kiss her and tell her that I'll always be here to protect her. Sebastian stopped me. He said we need to give her time and not take advantage of this moment. While I hate the bullshit he says, he is usually right when it comes to people and their emotions. He has more "people skill" or whatever the f**k it's called. I think he's just a little b***h sometimes. Suddenly I heard a voice.
"Your eyes are black again," Sage said as she was looking at me. I didn't notice. I smiled and cleared my throat. I raised the pitch of my voice and put on my best Sebastian impersonation.
"Yeah, they do that. How are you doing?" I said as Sebastian continued to fight me for control. I haven't gotten to talk to her directly that much at all. I just saved her life, so I deserve this moment.
"Yeah, thanks to you," she said looking past me, "I saw a wolf outside. It must have done all this somehow."
"You saw a wolf?" I asked with a fake surprised tone.
"Yeah, I think I did. It was sitting on the fence," she said as fear started to kick back in. I held her closer to me.
"Don't worry. There isn't a wolf here anymore," I lied.
"Good, I hate wolves. A wolf killed my father," she said as her eyes started to water again. Wait, what did she just say? She doesn't know her dad was a werewolf. She hates werewolves. She probably is part werewolf, and she is currently cuddled up to a werewolf. I stared at her confused. "Thank you for being here," she said as she pushed herself into me more. Well f**k. Our mate is a half werewolf who doesn't know that she's a half werewolf, and she also hates werewolves. I wish I could have stayed single.
