It was a windy night and I was running in a forest. I did not know why I was running but I ran and ran as though my life depended on it.
Then I got to a tree,I stood for a while and rested.Then I heard a strange voice "You can't run away from me.You can not run too far because I will always find you.....
Then I felt an invisible hand pressing my neck from behind almost choking me to death.
"Noo...I screamed and woke up from sleep.it was a then I discovered I had been dreaming.i heaved a deep sigh of relief.
The rumbling of thunder made me scared more.it was raining,My heart was pounding, tomorrow was the D day ,the day I wish would never come.
"No...I can't take this anymore.its either I escape now or die in the hands of that monster...I paused not certain if it was right to say more about it.
I was determined to run away,i wanted to avoid the miserable life that awaits me tomorrow.I reasoned and clutched my ready bag.
In no time I was in my backyard,I was quite good at sneaking.I threw the bag to the other side of the fence,it was high but I had arranged a wooden ladder for this particular day.I was careful not to make noise lest it attracts the guard or anyone ready to hear it.
I ran as quickly as I could and I was soon outside the walls of the palace.My cage.The rain had stopped suddenly, the breeze cool and refreshing.This was just what I wanted.Freedom.I stood for a while,it felt strange leaving my home for the first time but as the thought entered my mind I suddenly became bold.
I walked quickly and found a bush path,I followed the road.i didn't have any particular place to go because since I was born I have always stayed within the palace to have not gone out. Then I heard the trouble alarm, Damn Someone must have gone to my room to check on me.I knew instantly that it was my maid Winter. "What should I do?"I panicked .
My stomach sank at the thought of what my father would do to me. I stood at the spot, Many thought in my mind.
I fell to the ground and waited for them to catch up with me .They took me back to the palace and to my father's chamber. I received a hot slap across my face making me see the stars.
I faced the ground "Father please show Mercy '"I pleaded .
"You little brat,you tried to run away few hours to your wedding what do you think people would say if they hear this?"He shouted.
"I don't want to leave here Father"I cried out .
"Shut up. You don't have a chance".
"Father, Show me mercy"Isabella spoke.
I shot her a glare,She was my elder sister . My father favored all his children especially his daughters except me .
My father relaxed back in his chair .He cared so much for his reputation that I was given to the King of Goblea to end the disputes that have existed between the two kingdom.
Goblea was more civilized and advanced than our kingdom .it was the best among the five kingdoms and the most feared .No other Kingdom could dare and wage a war against them . Their soldiers were loyal and well trained . They had gained more territories and that made it the biggest kingdom among others.
"Go back to your residence.Tomorrow is a big day.You have to rest well "
"Father"I repeated.
"Sure Father"i said and got up.
I returned back to my residence weeping sadly. Winter knelt down in front of me"Punish me"She fell to her knees. "It's of no use stand up,Now I will have to face "I started crying.
"I can't bear to see you marry that monster"Winter looked at my pale.
"It's okay.I will accept my fate."
"What are you going to do?"She asked, her face wore an anxious look.
I let out a sad sigh
I felt relaxed as l sat comfortably in the royal carriage and we set out immediately. I didn't feel sad like an eager bride would be,l was happy a little bit but the problem was that my home was better than the one l was going to.
The prince looked nice and cool.That was not what l was expecting. He looked like a monster.Rumours has it that he was a monster borne by a maid who happened to be the kings maid and so he was an illegitimate child.
He was also rumored to be the dragons last descendants.
"Are you tired?"
"No l am no but l think l have a question"
"Go on"
"I don't think you are the supposed groom" l said.
"And how could you know that?You have not met him have you?"
That was true anyway.l rested my case.
After a long and tiring journey we arrived at the palace. It was evening already. He came down and assisted me as l came down.He took my hand in his and we walked into the palace which was huge and lots of people were outside.
Music filled the air, sweet melody they were to their King.
I noticed another Groom standing at the centre of it all.
As a princess which l was forced to be,l knew the right etiquette and so the king and queen were pleased with me.
"People of Goblea,let's rejoice.Today is a beautiful day." The king announced.
I was fired and felt sleepy as l sat beside my groom whose face was mask covered except his eyes and lips.
"Father,l wish to retire back to my chamber" his voice was scary.
"Guards....escort the prince and his bride to their residence"
We entered the carriage, it dawned on me that he was my real Groom.
The carriage stopped and he came down without minding me.Winter assisted me and came down.His residence was big and spacious but looked deserted.
"Let's go inside your highness"
On getting inside,every where was dark.l grabbed Winters hand tightly.
"Hold on princess while l search for a candlelight"
"Go out" a cold Sharp voice spoke.
