Janine POV
A month had passed, and things between Lucas and me had been perfect. Our relationship was stronger than ever, and I was unbelievably happy. I just hoped this would never end.
“Honey, are you done? They’re all waiting downstairs, and we’re the only ones they’re waiting for,” he said, approaching me while I was still in front of the mirror, fixing myself.
He hugged me from behind, inhaled my scent, and pressed a soft kiss on my neck.
“Wife, why don’t we just stay home? It would be so much nicer,” he added, pouting after saying it. He was so cute! I turned to face him and pinched his cheek.
“Aren’t you tired of always being like this? You’re such a pervert!” I teased. He laughed and hugged me tightly.
“How could I ever get tired of you? Just seeing you makes me excited,” he winked, playfully. He kissed me, and I responded immediately—I just couldn’t resist him, especially those soft, inviting lips.
“Hey—kay—!” We broke apart abruptly when Bess suddenly appeared.
“Okay, you two?! Is this the end of the world?! Does Niel even know about this?!” she yelled at us, probably worried it might cause trouble.
“Who’s Niel?!” I asked, confused as usual.
“Haller! Well… Nilo and Niel, that’s what I call him—because he’s so handsome and hunky. Nilo is his nickname, right? Anyway… I don’t know why I even said that. I’m just crazy sometimes,” she babbled, making no sense.
“Where are you going, and why are you here? Are you coming with us, Bess?” I asked, noticing her outfit—it looked like she was leaving.
“Yep, Niel invited me. We have some plans,” she said. Something about her words made me suspicious.
“Come on, let’s go. They’re waiting for you, you know! Don’t make them wait too long. You could continue your… whatever plans… later,” I teased as I dragged Bess along to join Lucas, finally heading out.
“Hey, Cindy! Don’t take my husband away from me!” Lucas laughed like a kid left behind in the room.
We had arrived in Cebu, welcomed by Jeric and his fiancée. She was beautiful, though I knew she wasn’t his girlfriend before… what had happened between them?
We were all in one van, and Nilo and Diego were being extra careful as usual. Lucas sat next to me, quiet, as we cuddled together.
“Bro, careful not to bug this van!” they joked, laughing. Lucas ignored Jeric, holding me closer.
“Hey, bro! Why didn’t you tell us you were back? You scared us—you’re getting married already!” Nilo teased, lightly hitting his seat. They laughed, but Lucas just held me, eyes closed, completely absorbed in feeling me close.
“This is for you too, guys. You know my work, right? Putcha! Luc, you'd better let go of your wife—she’s all yours, and we’re all taken!” Jeric laughed. Lucas glanced at him briefly.
“Damn Jeric, you still have a lot to say. Just drive,” Lucas muttered, hugging me again. I couldn’t help but laugh—it was impossible to resist him.
“Don’t mind him, wife. Just hold me. I really can’t control myself anymore. I might just do what I want with you, even with them here,” he whispered, inhaling my hair.
“You’re such a pervert,” I whispered back, embarrassed in case anyone overheard.
“I only act like this with you,” he said, mockingly serious. I playfully hit him, and we both laughed, loud enough that everyone could hear.
The next morning, I was woken up early by Bess’s knock. I glanced at my phone—almost noon! I quickly pulled the blanket over me.
“Lucas, get up! They’re saying it’s time for rehearsal. We’ve been woken up for hours already,” she said. His eyes slowly opened.
“Hon, can we just stay here all day? Tell Jeric they can rehearse without us. Vince is the best man anyway,” he joked, pretending to sulk at his friend.
“Get up, Lucas! Don’t embarrass us—hurry!” I said, heading to the bathroom. I quickly showered and got ready. When I came out, I froze at the figure in front of me.
“Where do you think you’re going, hon?” he asked, arms crossed.
“Downstairs—they’ve been waiting. You should shower too; I’ll get your outfit ready,” I replied.
He pulled me close and kissed me. I felt weak again under his touch—I was completely head over heels for him.
“Join me in the shower, hon,” he teased again. Seriously, this man never ran out of energy!
“Lucas, I just finished,” I said, trying to avoid him, but he pulled me in again and kissed me. I couldn’t resist.
At the church, I was surprised to see Sophia approaching. She kissed Lucas and the other friends, but for me, she only gave a cold glance. I ignored it, understanding her distant attitude.
The rehearsal ended, and we ate at a nearby restaurant. Exhausted, I went straight to our room to take a nap.
I woke up suddenly, hungry. Lucas hadn’t woken me to eat together, but I guessed he saw how tired I was and let me sleep. I glanced at the clock—3 a.m.
I went downstairs to the kitchen, hungry. I found some bread and filled it with whatever I could find, making juice to go with it. After eating, I headed back to our room.
As I climbed the stairs, I heard arguing not far away. One of the voices sounded like Lucas. I crept closer to hear them more clearly.
“Luc, please have mercy on Jewel,” I heard Sophia pleading for her friend.
“No. I won’t leave my wife,” Lucas said firmly. Relief washed over me at hearing his words.
Lucas left, and I quickly hid in the garden so he wouldn’t see me. I wasn’t sure whether I was scared or just shaken by what I overheard.
“Honey, you’re right here. I thought you’d left when I came to our room. I was worried,” he said, approaching me. I hugged him tightly.
“I love you so much, Lucas,” I whispered. He kissed me immediately.
