Janine POV
I woke up suddenly. I remembered I had to be in early today because Jerome and I had multiple meetings—with investors and employees. But then, everything that happened last night came flooding back. His words… it all felt like a dream.
Flashback
“Wife, don’t leave. Let’s fix everything—the mistakes that happened between us in the past. Let’s stay together until we know where this is going. I don’t know why I feel this way, but all I know is, it feels like I have no life when you’re not here. I promise I’ll make you happy every day. You won’t be sad as long as we’re together. Promise. Please, wife.”
I was confused by my feelings. Should I agree? What if, in the end, he finds out he doesn’t truly love me? I might only get hurt even more.
“Wife, please.”
I could see the sincerity in his eyes, but I was scared. What should I do?
“I might just get hurt, Luc, if I give in to you. If we try, we both know it might already be too late for us. What if he comes back? What about me? Will you leave me because he’s the one you truly love?” I asked, tears falling.
“Please, wife. Just trust me. You won’t get hurt again. I won’t allow it.”
He held my face and kissed me suddenly—I was shocked.
I pushed him, but he was stronger… or maybe I wanted it too.
As I struggled, my knees weakened, and I clung to his neck.
My mind didn’t want to respond, but my heart and lips—cheating on me—moved on their own. With every kiss I returned, I knew this was where it all began.
The soft, gentle kisses earlier turned passionate. He explored every inch of my lips. He pulled away, and we both gasped for air.
“You responded to my kiss. Does that mean… yes?”
I bowed my head, feeling myself blush. He held my chin and kissed me gently. I nodded.
“Yes. I’ll give in. We’ll fix this—us. I’ll help you discover what you truly feel for me. But you must promise me something. Don’t leave me like trash if you find out I’m not the one you love. Be honest with me.”
He immediately nodded.
He kissed me again, sweetly—full of love, and I hoped it was all love.
He lifted me while our lips were still locked.
“Not here, wife. I don’t want an audience.” He winked.
He carried me into my room and turned on the light.
“I don’t want the lights off while kissing you. I want to see you.”
I was shocked—he had taken over my room. No wonder it was locked.
The room was pink, filled with pictures of us from college and even our wedding.
“I shouldn’t have put up our wedding photos. I was annoyed with myself—I never realized how beautiful my bride was.”
He wrapped his arms around my waist as I clung to his neck.
“You’re such a flirt, Luc,” I teased.
“Wife, don’t call me Luc. Only you can call me that—Lucas.”
I laughed and lightly hit him.
“Okay, Mr. Lucas Samaniego,” I joked.
When I tried to kiss him, he pulled away. When he tried to kiss me, I pulled away.
“Naughty wife.”
He pinched my nose before kissing me—a kiss that ignited heat throughout my body.
I turned off the light, but he turned it back on.
“I thought you wanted it dark?”
“I want to see your blushing face. It makes me hotter.”
I laughed and kissed him—full of longing I had kept for years.
His kisses moved down my neck. He sat on the bed and pulled me into his lap.
He kissed me again until I lay on the bed.
Slowly, he removed my dress.
“Your bra is annoying,” he complained.
He smiled as he touched my chest, like a child excited with a toy.
I didn’t know where to turn my head from the sensation.
His kisses moved down to my stomach, removing my underwear.
“I hate your undies too… so I destroyed them.”
He kissed the most sensitive part of me.
“Ahh, Lucas… don’t stop,” I moaned.
“You’re wet.”
“Please, Lucas. Take me now. I want you.”
“Say my name again, wife.”
“Lucas… I love you.”
And then he claimed me completely.
“You’re still tight, wife… but I’ll be gentle.”
It hurt at first, but gradually I got used to it and matched his rhythm.
“I’m coming, wife.”
“Lucas, I love you.”
Afterward, he kissed my forehead and lay beside me.
“Thank you, wife, for making me happy.”
We fell asleep in each other’s arms.
End of Flashback
There’s no certainty in this decision, but I don’t want to regret it later.
I don’t want to miss a chance to be happy, even just a little.
I lay down and turned toward my sleeping husband.
“Wife, don’t stare at me like that. I’m getting hot again,” he said with his eyes closed.
“Pervert!” I laughed in response.
I was about to get up when he suddenly pulled me into a hug.
“Where are you going?”
“I’m going to work. Jerome’s probably waiting for me.”
He released me and sat down, frowning.
Lucas POV
It feels amazing like this—to be okay again with Janine, my wife.
I’m so happy because it really feels different when things are right with the person you married.
That night, I pretended to be drunk. The truth is, I wasn’t really drunk. I just wanted to see if she still had feelings for me.
I felt that she did, so I dared to hope again. But I was hurt by what she said—she sounded like she was saying goodbye, like she was ready to leave the mansion and live apart from me.
So I did everything she wanted because I wanted to make her happy.
I don’t know what I truly feel for her. All I know is, something feels missing when she’s not around.
I should’ve waited until next week for my plan, but when I heard from Cindy that she was moving out, I panicked. So I acted quickly. I surprised her, and I knew she was happy.
Yesterday was exhausting, but it’s okay—I got rewarded by my beautiful wife. I’ll do everything to make her happy.
“What are you thinking, Luc? Why did you suddenly move me to another house?!”
I was surprised. Sophia was in front of me, her face angry.
“What?! Why didn’t you tell me? What about my best friend? Is she part of this plan?” Her questions came rapidly. I didn’t know where to start.
“Please, Sophia, let’s not talk about that yet. Janine and I are fine. I came to my senses. I don’t want to lose her.”
She was shocked by what I said.
“What?! You’re crazy! Didn’t you pity Jewel, Luc? For Pete’s sake, she nearly died because of what you and Janine did! She’s coming back, hoping you’d reconcile. What the hell, Luc?! She could die again!”
I froze.
“What do you mean she could die again?”
She sat in front of me, extinguishing her cigarette in the ashtray.
“I lied when I said she was okay—she wasn’t. After we left for France, Tito and I thought she was fine because of your agreement, the three of you. But one day, she attempted suicide. She said she couldn’t live without you. She was depressed.
We thought that was the last time. But one day, the police called—a car accident, Jewel. That’s when we realized she really wanted to end her life.
So, to prevent it from happening again, we sent someone here last year to watch over you. From the photos, it seemed like you weren’t happy with Janine, barely together. So she fixed herself—all for you.
I came here because I promised her I’d fix things. But this is bullshit, Luc! What are you even doing?!”
Her hands shook in anger.
“Sorry, Sophia… but I can’t live without my wife. I suddenly realized my life won’t be happy if Janine is gone.”
“You’re an i***t, Luc!” she shouted.
“How could you do this to my best friend? What about your agreement? Do you think Tito will allow it? You know you were only allowed to marry because that’s what Janine’s mother wanted. But you have an agreement among the three of you! No matter what, you must have Janine annulled—whether you like it or not.”
“I’ll talk to Jewel and her father. I’ll do everything to apologize and explain everything. But I won’t leave my wife. We won’t separate. That’s my decision.”
She stared at me sharply.
“Don’t you love Jewel anymore, Luc? Is Janine really the one you love?”
I froze. I didn’t know what to answer.
“See? You don’t even know the answer,” she said with a grin.
She was about to leave but looked back once more.
“I won’t tell Jewel everything yet. You’ll tell her. But maybe when you see her… your choice will be different.”
She laughed softly before leaving.
One thing is certain—I don’t want to hurt Janine, and I don’t want us to separate.
But who do I really love between the two of them?
