Scarlett's pov
“I didn't mean to make him so upset,” I told Nora as we sat on my bed. As I stared at the book in front of me, I felt no sense of accomplishment, although I knew this was the first real step in the right direction.
Rather I was filled with a deep sadness and a void within my chest as I remembered Silas’ expression just before he turned his back to me.
“It's not your fault although you really should have stayed out of the library,” Nora replied, staring at me pointedly, and I looked away guiltily.
“I'm sorry, I have no excuse. It's just that I got bored after I returned from the infirmary and something in this library kept calling to me.” I revealed and Nora merely stared at me silently.
