He’s my step-brother, my sin, and the father of my baby.

********

I never wanted a brother.

But fate gave me one… and he’s the man I can’t resist.

When my reckless mother married into the powerful Harrington family, I thought it was just another one of her selfish schemes. I didn’t care....until I met him.

Henry Harrington.

My new step-brother.

Cold. Arrogant. Untouchable.

The billionaire every woman dreams of… and the one man I should never desire.

He warned me to stay out of his way.

I swore I would.

But one stolen kiss turned into one f*******n night...

And now, I carry his child.

If the truth comes out, our family will shatter.

His billion-dollar empire will collapse.

And my mother will destroy me for the scandal I’ve caused.

But Henry won’t let me go.

He says the baby in my womb is his.

He says I am his.

And he’s willing to burn the world to keep me...

even if it means breaking every rule of blood and family.

I thought I was escaping disaster.

Instead, I fell into the arms of my f*******n step-brother…

and into a secret that will change everything.

Linda dreams
Linda slumped against the small wooden desk, staring at the pile of unfinished assignments. The single bulb dangling from the ceiling flickered, casting shadows across the cramped apartment she shared with her mother. The air smelled faintly of stale beer and cigarette smoke, a constant reminder of her mother’s nightly habits. At twenty, Linda had already learned the art of survival. While her classmates worried about prom dresses and weekend parties, she worried about bills, food, and whether her mother would come home drunk or sober. The thin walls did nothing to block out the laughter of neighbors or the blaring music from the street outside. Everything felt suffocating. Her life felt like a cage...small, dirty, and inescapable. Linda rubbed her tired eyes and whispered to herself, “Just one more year. Just one more year and I’ll be in college, away from this nightmare.” But life had a cruel way of laughing at dreams. The sound of heels clicking against the hallway tiles snapped her out of her thoughts. The door banged open, and her mother, Stephanie, swept inside in a cloud of perfume and cigarette smoke. Her red lipstick was smudged, and her hair tumbled loosely around her shoulders. She looked like she had come straight from a party. “Linda!” Stephanie sang out, throwing her purse onto the couch. “Guess what, sweetheart? I have the best news in the world!” Linda stiffened. Her mother only ever called her “sweetheart” when she wanted something...or when she was about to deliver bad news wrapped in fake excitement. “What now?” Linda muttered, closing her notebook. Stephanie twirled in front of the cracked mirror, admiring herself. “We’re moving up in the world. No more of this… rat hole. No more scraping pennies. We’re going to live in luxury.” Linda frowned. “Luxury?” Her mother spun around, eyes glittering with a strange excitement. “I’m getting married.” The words hit Linda like ice water. Her chair screeched against the floor as she stood up. “Married? To who?” Stephanie’s smile widened. “To Charles Harrington.” Linda froze. Even the name sent shivers through her. Everyone in the city knew the Harringtons. Old money. Power. Influence. They weren’t just wealthy; they were untouchable. Their name was whispered with respect...and fear. Linda’s voice shook. “You… you can’t be serious.” “Oh, but I am,” Stephanie said, brushing invisible dust off her short skirt. “He’s charming, handsome, and filthy rich. Do you know what this means for us? You’ll finally live in a mansion, go to the best schools, wear designer clothes. Our lives are about to change, Linda. Forever.” Linda’s chest tightened. “You barely know him. What if he’s dangerous? What if....” Stephanie rolled her eyes. “Don’t be dramatic. This is our chance. Do you want to spend the rest of your life stuck here? Because I don’t.” Linda’s hands trembled. “You can’t just decide this without me.” Stephanie’s smile faded into irritation. “I can, and I have. The wedding is in two weeks. You’ll pack your things and behave like a proper young lady. No arguments.” Linda’s throat burned with unshed tears. “Mom, please… don’t do this.” Her mother’s face hardened. “This isn’t up for discussion, Linda. You’ll thank me later.” With that, Stephanie disappeared into the bathroom, humming as though she hadn’t just shattered her daughter’s world. Linda stood frozen in the middle of the room. Her chest rose and fell in shallow breaths, her mind racing. The Harringtons. Why did it have to be them? She sat back down at her desk, her fingers shaking as she reached for her phone. Typing quickly, she opened the search engine and wrote: Harrington family scandals. Hundreds of articles popped up...business deals, political ties, whispered rumors of criminal activities. But one name appeared more often than the rest: Henry Harrington, the eldest son. Linda clicked on a picture. The man who stared back at her had dark, piercing eyes, a strong jaw, and the kind of presence that seemed to command the room...even through a screen. He was older, maybe in his late twenty's, with the kind of wealth and arrogance that oozed from every detail of his expensive suit. The comments under the articles made her blood run cold. “The devil wears a Harrington smile.” “You don’t cross Henry unless you want to disappear.” “Handsome, yes. But dangerous. Deadly dangerous.” Linda quickly locked her phone, her heart hammering in her chest. This was the family her mother wanted to marry into? A family tied to whispers of power, control, and fear? Tears stung her eyes. She thought of the nights she had stayed awake, dreaming of freedom. Now, instead of escaping, she was being dragged deeper into a world she wanted nothing to do with. She buried her face in her hands. “Why me?” she whispered. Her phone buzzed. A message from her best friend, Sophie. What’s wrong? You sound upset. Linda’s fingers flew over the screen. My mom… she’s getting married. To Charles Harrington. There was a long pause before Sophie replied. Wait. THE Harringtons? Linda, that family is… they’re not normal. Everyone says they’re dangerous. I know, Linda typed back, her hands trembling. And now I’ll have to live with them. The bathroom door creaked open, and Stephanie walked out wrapped in a towel, humming as if the world revolved around her. “Linda,” she called cheerfully, “start packing tomorrow. The Harringtons want us to move into their estate before the wedding. Isn’t that exciting?” Linda’s stomach dropped. Exciting? No. Terrifying. She didn’t know how, but deep down, Linda was certain: stepping into the Harrington mansion would change her life forever. And not for the better. She clutched her phone, Sophie’s last message glowing on the screen. Be careful, Linda. Some cages look like castles. For the first time, Linda realized...her freedom wasn’t just slipping away. It was being sold to the highest bidder. And the Harringtons always collected what was theirs.......
