“Linnea…”
The young girl smiled politely at her father.
“I didn’t see Francesca. I dropped the note off with Karoline as you asked, but I didn’t see either of them. I couldn’t risk staying any longer.”
Jonas looked disappointed. He had hoped for some news about Francesca, or that she might scrawl a response letting him know she was Ok and pass it back to Linnea for him.
He had known it was unlikely and that Linnea was taking enough of a risk dropping that one note off for him, but it was still disappointing.
“Thank you… it means a lot to me that you offered to take that note. I know you were taking a big risk and that it must have been difficult to go back there after you left everything behind so suddenly.”
She nodded and smiled but turned away from her father to go back to her own
