Francesca read through the note for the fifth time as if the words might magically have rearranged themselves on the page since she last read it. Every time she read it she felt something new. The first time it was anger, the second time had been hurt… after that betrayal, and the last time she had only felt disappointment. This time she was numb. She didn’t feel anything.
