Wake up princes. Somehow Lilly has dozed off, your boyfriend got our sent, Ben says, excitement in his voice. She can hear dogs barking not too far from them. Ben shoves something in her mouth just in case you decide to scream. He duck tapes her mouth. Her heart races, Bruno is close, please God I’m so sorry, please forgive me, she says a soft prayer. Please let Bruno find me, I'll go to church I’ll be a better person please she pleads in disappear. Ben ruthlessly pulls on the rope now tied to her hands. If you give me any trouble, I’ll slit your throat right here. Ben says, so cold but calm to her. She understands his threat load and clear and doesn’t make any fuss. Only a couple of meters from the cave Ben enters in what seems like a manhole dragging her behind him. The musty smell of rotten eggs, rat feces and something dead fills her nostrils and makes her pull her face like she just tasted something foul. Come princes, Ben pulls on the rope don’t get any ideas and spoil this for me. Lilly still wearing her funeral dress and flats, is soaking up all this disgusting water they are almost running in. In the chase Ben decides to phone Bruno but he gets no reception, how does this s**t work, Lilly quickly realizing he doesn’t know all the modern technology, he said he was in the psych hospital for 10years. He puts the phone back in his pocket Lilly relieved he didn’t ditch the phone. Bruno must be tracking the phone she thinks. That’s why he came so close to us. Lilly has gotten new hope. They climb up a ladder Lilly trembling because she’s got to do this with her hand tied. Hurry up princes, Ben says impatient following her. She takes a deep breath of fresh air when they climb out. She can still hear the dogs barking in the distance. Ben is pulling her ruthlessly on the ropes, it bites into her skin and she moans underneath the gag.
It’s dark and cold in the wee hours of the morning. Lilly is trembling from fear and the icy wind blowing though her thin dress. Slow down she tries and scream through the gag but Ben pulls the rope again and Lilly smashes into the ground. Get up you stupid b***h! Ben shouts now in a panic, the dogs are getting closer. He pulls Lilly to her feet and pick up the pace again and Lilly falls again, the road is rocky and uneven, and she sprains her ankle. Tears spring from her eyes as the pain shoots trough her bones. Ben pulls her to her feet, but she can’t stand on her foot. Ben is furious and shouts at Lilly. He hits his head with his fists and pulls his own hair like a mad man. No no no! This is not how I planned this, and he paces up and down while Lilly is sitting helplessly on the floor trembling and crying in fear, in pain. He looks at Lilly with a death stare and grabs her again and throughs her over his shoulder. You are coming with me; I still have plans with you. Lilly starts fussing and trying to get loose from his grip. He puts her down and punches her in the face you keep still he shouts and troughs her over his shoulder again. Someone shoots a shot up in the air. Lilly starts struggling again knowing Bruno can see them, his close, Ben is again forced to put her down. But he drops her like a bag of rocks, and she slams into the earth. Ben ducks behind a tree but still holds on to the rope. He slowly reels Lilly in like his reeling in a fish from sea. Lilly fuses and tries to get away, but he has the better hand over her. Another shot fires in the air echoing through the woods. Lilly now in arm’s length of Ben. He kicks her in the head and Lilly passes out of the blow.
Lilly! open your eyes? Lilly it’s me! Oh, dear God please don’t take her from me. I’m so sorry baby please open your eyes. Bruno picks Lilly up and takes her back to the SUV and rushes her to the hospital. Please sir stand back, let me do my job. Lilly gets rushed to the ER. Hours later the doctor emerges. I am Dr Bright. She is stable now. She endured a massive blow to the head. The MRI shows swelling on the brain. We have induced a coma to keep her still. How long will she be in the coma? We will keep her like this for 72 hours and monitor the swelling. Can I see her? Yes, you can see her now. She is on the third floor in ICU. Lilly is on a heart monitor; it is beeping strong. There is a tube coming from her mouth that is connected to a ventilator, and she has an iv drip in her right arm.
Oh, my love, please don’t leave me, Bruno sits on the bed, takes Lilly’s hand, and kisses her knuckles. His voice so weak and shaky. Come back to me darling please. I love you so much. Tears trickle from his eyes. I’ve died a thousand deaths today, come back to me. The nurse comes in to check her vitals. Sir please can you use the chair provided. Bruno looks at her dumb struck but complies and moves the armchair right next to her bed. Sir why don’t you go home and get some rest, she won’t wake up tonight. No way! Bruno says loud and clear I’m not leaving her side. Very well, and the nurse leaves the room. Exhaustion sweeps over Bruno his eyes now so heavy; he falls asleep. He is running in the woods, its dark and he can’t see, the full moon being the only guide in the night. He hears Lilly’s horrifying screams of agony, pain. His heart is racing, his out of breath, he sees the figure of Ben sitting on top of Lilly a hunter’s knife in his hands. His stabbing her, again and again Lilly’s hand in front of her trying to prevent the next blow. Blood streaming from her wounds. No! Please no! Bruno shouts jumping from the armchair startling the nurse who is busy checking Lilly’s vitals. You just had a bad dream the nurse says. You are ok, safe, she says.
Bruno’s phone buzzes in his pocket. He takes it out as he is walking out the room for some privacy. Yes Alex? Bruno, we got him, a sigh of relieve slips Bruno’s mouth. Make sure he doesn’t escape on the way to Green’s psych hospital. Bruno, Ben is dead. He overpowered sergeant Clark and took his pistol. I had no choice but to shoot him. Very well Bruno says. Thank you, Alex. I'll keep you updated. How is Lilly? The swelling on her brain is settling, if all is well tomorrow, they will bring her out of the coma. Keep strong Bruno, thank you Alex.
