I am anxious about how tonight will go. All Maria had told me is that attendance was compulsory. Vague. It had been tense at work since I broke up with Jay a couple of days ago. Maria couldn’t understand why I dumped Jay. I could only offer half-arse lame reasons. Everything she laid on me was true. He’s perfect, sweet, considerate, smart, brave, genuine, protective…. Obviously, I know all of that. He deserves to be happy. The man literally saved my life - twice. Not including the emotional meltdowns, he’s helped me through. I consider that saving my life too.
In the short time I’ve been working with Maria I feels like she’s the mother I never had growing up. We’ve grown close. Now there’s an awkwardness between us that never existed before. I hate it.
