Chapter 40

1191 Words
ALEERA VERNIZE I was in the library, holding the book entitled Namika, while still thinking of what Ferno had told me in the lake. After how many days of being away from the house, I was finally able to visit my library again. The dust inside my secret place was already tickling my nose, perhaps it was telling me to clean the place again. I really had the plan to arrange everything in here, I was just looking for the right time. The old woman, on the other hand, was in her house, making potions again. Fortunately, she let me have my rest. Besides, she knew I had been missing spending time with my family. While browsing the bound in my hands, the thought of killing Yoona did not exit my mind. I knew Ferno wasn't lying when he said he ended up his sister's life himself, because I was aware of how his life had been messed up with her. In fact, Ferno had already so much record not just in Ragwarths, but also in the entire community. He was continuously being chased by the polices, but he was too tough for them, even though he was just one against many. Even in school, he was being feared by everyone, and that was why no one had dared to touch him. It wasn't anger that I felt the most for Ferno, but pity. Now that I found out about his history, my heart seemed to break into pieces. I empathize with him for eagerly committing a crime out of resentment. Nevertheless, I knew nothing would change his mind, so no matter what would happen, I had to stop him and Gandor. I was to put down the book when I had the thought of reading some of its parts. When the words hooked my attention, I had decided to start from the beginning, so I could understand the entire story. Besides, I missed entering a fictional world. Just for some time, I liked to escape from reality. On the first page, the author already introduced the main character. I was just a bit surprised because Namika in the story was somehow similar to the Namika I knew in the real life. Both of them almost had the same behavior and characteristics. While keeping on, I couldn't stop wondering if this book really had something to do with the old woman. What if there was any connection? Having the willingness to know more, I continued reading until I reached the twentieth page of the book. No matter how I would love to finish it, I wasn't able so, because Mommy Morrigan was yet calling for me. Every time I would hear her voice coming to the room, my heart was pounding, especially that it was still hard to get out of the library without her noticing. I had planned to make another way out with the help of Namika, but I still didn't tell her about this. I exited the place in haste; however, the moment I went out of bed, Mommy caught me again— and again. "Why are you always under your bed?" she asked, creasing her brow. "What's in there, huh?" "Nothing, Mommy," I answered. "Just got the earring that fell." "And what are you doing with your earring, baby girl? They are always falling." "I don't also know, Mommy." I walked towards her and held her arm. "Let's go. I'm now starving, Mommy." I pulled her outside, but she was still trying to look back, thinking there might be really something under my bed. While heading to the dining area, I was placing my head on Mommy's arm because I missed her so much and I was thirsty to cuddle with her again, as well as with Daddy Perseus. As I took my seat, and while Mommy was preparing the food on the table, my father spoke, "You might be thinking why we're having an early lunch today, sweetheart," he said. "We just want to tell you something." "Let her eat first, I guess," Mommy mouthed. Daddy concurred with my mother, but after some time, he talked again. "I think she's now ready, honey. Should I tell her yet?" "Uhm, what seems to be the matter, Mommy and Daddy?" I interfered. My father let out a sigh. "I don't think so you're gonna like it, but Namika has already resigned." My eyes grew bigger. "What?" "Daddy's right, my baby girl," Mommy said. "Early this morning, Namika came and told us she will be leaving Hades. Her sickness is getting severe. She was continuously coughing and she looked so pale." "We asked her to visit her in her house before she could left, but she refused to say her location," Daddy said. "And why is she leaving?" I asked them. "For healing," Mommy answered. I let out a deep sigh as thinking of the old woman's alibi. I knew she would not be leaving, but just making ways for her to not be interrupted in the mission. So, in the first place, she only applied to be my guide for her to get me? "That's why your Mommy and I had decided to hire another gui-" "No," I cut Daddy off. "I can manage myself, Mommy and Daddy. You don't have to get another one for me. I had learned a lot from Namika on how to be independent." "Is that so?" Mommy pouted. "Well, it saddens me we can't stop her. She's a big help for you, my dear, and I want her to remain; however, it's too late." "Besides, honey, Namika has a disease. She doesn't deserve to be still working at her age," Daddy uttered. "You're right, honey," Mommy said, looking at him, and turned her gaze at me then. "But, baby, are you sure you don't want a guide?" I nodded. "My other classmates can manage to just walk alone or by their friends. If they can, so can I." "If you say so... but we can't still be complacent of this. I'm still worried about your safety, especially that no one is there to watch over you." "It's alright, Mommy," I smiled a bit. "Besides, this is what I wanted. I just want to learn to be dependent on my own company." "Let her," Daddy said. My mother didn't talk anymore, since she had no choice but to listen with my favor. I appreciated Mommy Morrigan for showing her custody to me. If only it wasn't a problem telling her the real story, I would not hesitate to spit facts to her, also to Daddy. Of course, I also loved Daddy for hearing and granting my desires; he would always respect my decisions, as long as he knew it was right. I was more than blessed of having me since, in my first life, I didn't experience having a father that this kind-hearted. After eating, I went back to the library and continued reading the book Namika. While finishing up every page, I was becoming even more confused and curious. There must be really something in this book that was related to her.
