Chapter 41

ALEERA VERNIZE "Why did you quit the job?" I was again in the old woman's room, peeking through the window and seeing the exquisite beauty of Mount Marrior while still thinking why she had to do that. Namika was in her bed, testing the new potions she had made. Since she was so focused on her task, she wasn't able to answer my question, so I had to repeat it. She turned her gaze at me and raised her brow. "Why?" she asked. "Do you see something wrong with it? I just know it's the best thing to do. I can't make a fake illness my alibi forever." "And besides, you get me already, right?" I mouthed. "That's you're only motive why you entered the job." "Yes, it is. Why do I have to deny it? In fact, that's the only thing here. I don't care about being your guide in the school. I'm more into being your lecturer here in this mission." Namika was right for telling me the truth. The job was probably the only thing she could do to take me in this; it was the best way she could use to introduce to me the mission and my purpose in this world. The only thing I didn't know was, why did she have to leave the work to Mommy and Daddy. I knew we both had a hectic schedule, but with proper time management, we could surpass this. "Why didn't you make a robot?" I asked her. "You made a copy of me, so you can do it to yourself also, can't you?" Namika nodded. "But I don't think so two robots will work well together. Remember: I am controlling your robot. If I'll make as well my copy, it would be hard for me to operate the two." "Then, teach me." "No. You're not here for running a robot. Just focus on your main goal, and everything is good." "I can manage." "I know you can and we can, but it would take us a long time to learn everything, especially you. I'll just guide you with the important things. And you... you must forget about the robots. One is enough." "But, why do you have to quit the job? I know you can manage. You're just making an excuse." "I don't want to say things again, young girl. We're done with this." As the wind touched my skin, I just released a deep sigh. I couldn't argue anymore. If this was the best thing we could do for the future, then I would give her the favor. I just hoped my parents wouldn't take her leaving a burden, since I had also convinced them that I could do things alone without the help of Namika. I was just worried, especially that I was making them distress as well. I walked towards the old woman and looked straight into her eyes. "About Figan," I spoke. "Oh, yeah, we forgot to talk about your visitation. Tell me, what happened?" "I don't like the place, honestly. It's dark there. It's wide, but when you're there, it feels narrow. The displays are bad as well. I don't like everything about that place." "I knew that would be your reaction," Namika mouthed. "You've probably not seen yet the whole place of Figan. Well, to tell you, it's really lifeless there." "You told me you haven't been there yet, right? How did you know about it, in the first place?" "Because of my crystal ball," the old woman answered. "That crystal can show me things, but only if it's good and for a purpose." "Who gave you that crystal ball?" Namika stood and went towards the window. "It's out of the topic. You better tell me more about Figan," she said. "Okay, but by the way, I love the potions you handed me. They were good! I didn't know I could breathe underwater," I giggled. "I gave my best in mixing them," the old woman grinned. "I'm glad to hear that about you. But you know, honestly, I was just a bit disappointed with how you've used them. We trained a lot yet you ended up failing." "I'm so sorry about it. I was just surprised, too. I was caught up by Figan, to the point that I didn't notice the time running. Especially that Gandor... he interrupted me." "Why did you say so?" Namika asked, puckering her eyebrows. I stood in the bed and went towards the old woman. "Did you know that he can transform into a human?" I questioned. "So, you've seen it?" I nodded. "My eyes grew big that time. You know, when he has transformed, he was so happy about it. He could not stop himself from dancing while mirroring himself." "What could you say about his appearance?" "It isn't that bad though, unlike when he's a dragon. I hate his long-waving body. I also don't like his red creepy eyes. But when he's a human, he is different." "So, you're saying, you like him as a human?" Namika creased her brow. "Only his physical features, but not his attitude. He's a good-looking guy when he is a human. He has black eyes, a rosy lip, and a good bo-" "Continue that and I'll be slapping your cheeks from left to right." "Kidding," I giggled. But honestly speaking, Gandor as a human was someone every girl could admire; nevertheless, it still didn't change her trashy personality. His physical features didn't even make him a god, personally. "Off-topic," Namika said. "You're not saying things about Keevan anymore. How is he doing?" "Goodness, I've said it to you many times," I rolled my eyes. "He has transferred out and he's not coming back anymore." "How did you say?" "He told me that day he left Hades." "But, what if he returned?" "Nothing will change, I still don't like him. I just hope he will not show up again. I know he would just bully me once we meet again. But anyway..." I stared at Namika, "you can see the future, right?" She nodded. I swallowed my saliva as I clenched my fist. "Tell me the truth, will he be back?"
