Chapter 12

Kat

Sitting on the hospital bed hurt like hell, and eating anything was even worse. The only thing I could eat was yoghurt and the creamy mash potatoes whipped up by mrs Samuels. I was thankful that Abby brought me ice cold soda; That definitely tasted better than the water. Me and Abby woke up at 7 this morning and she has stayed with me since last night. I honestly couldn't remember much. Just that I was sliced open somehow and that Abby caught me when I was falling to the ground but outside of that; basically nothing.

"Hey sleeping beauty, you feeling better?" Abby asked as she is walking in; fresh out of the shower with her wet hair in high ponytail and cean leggings, pump shoes and a cute Snoopy shirt.

"I feel better now after I have taken a shower. My muscles hurt like hell though. I could go for a walk actually. The sooner I can get back up will be better for me. How are you doing?" I ask as I'm getting up, motioning for her to help me walk.

"Actually better now that that you are awake. I wanted to bring Arkyn to see you, but then again I thought tonight will be better since I didn't want to overwhelm you with meeting Dante too. Just as well since they decided to go shopping today since we aren't leaving the packhouse anytime soon", she answers me while holding onto my hand.

"That big giant protector of yours? Please tell me he is more talkative by now. I can't stand it when he only answers with those stupid one word sentences. " I looked at her, pleading with the sound of my voice. She told about Dante and how he protected the pack yesterday and that they are brothers with Dante being the younger one at twenty four years old.

"He is actually fun once a person gets to spend some time with him. That idiotic but sexy wolf pushed me into the lake yesterday, and I think maybe he carried me to bed as well when I fell asleep on the couch...". Her cheeks were flushed and she was biting her lower lip.

"Are you f*****g kidding me b***h?" I bumped into her slightly making her laugh a bit. "You haven't even known the guy a day and you are getting horny just by the thought of him." Scoffing at her, I went to sit on the chair. "He isn't your mate babe. If the moon goddess blessed you with one, you will know. We have seen and heard how everyone reacts when they find their soulmates.

Don't you think this is just a little crush? or maybe a future fling?" I wiggle my eyebrows at her."

"Could be," She said sitting next to me. "Because he is really sexy. I think it's the blue eyes that is making me attracted to him. I hugged her while whispering in her ear, "I don't blame you though"

She giggled and hugged me back. "So tell me what happened while I was taking a little napcation." I questioned while I sipped my soda.

I was a mix of emotions. Abby filled me in with everything that happened and now I was even more happy Dante and Arkyn arrived yesterday. I was angry as well, promising her to find out who of our pack betrayed us. This person also knew where the blindspots on the cameras were, so we will never find out when time of day the trip wires were cut.

"I am happy to release you, Beta. You can go home now, just remember you need to come in every day so that we can check for infection on that scar until it heals which should be in about three days and just to make sure your vitals are fine" Doctor Matthews said with a smile.

"Thank you doctor. I appreciate it everything" I told him while Abby helped me into my jacket. I was still a little bit cold, which our doctor explained was one of the side effects of my wolf, Shadow, healing me. It took a lot of energy out of her, so she has to heal first.

I came out around dinner time and everyone was waiting in the dining room. The faint smell of mint hit my nose, making it wrinkle. The whole packhouse was covered in it. Shrugging it off to chemicals the cleaners used, I walk over to where everyone was waiting with an array of gifts ranging from flowers and teddy bears to chocolates and bathbombs.

"Oh my baby, I am glad you are feeling better" My parents came rushing over to me. Tyler was nowhere in sight. "I'm glad to see you mom, dad. Where is that brother of mine?" I look at them while hugging Emily and Abby's parents.

"Oh, he is with friends from out of town. Some project they have to work on." My mom answers with tears in her eyes, looking me over as if I just came out of the worst thing of my life. "Where's Arkyn and that brother of his? I don't see them here", I ask as I'm sitting down, positioning myself on the chair so that my body isn't in a lot of aches from doing a simple task as just sitting.

"Oh, they called. They will be here later as they got hold up in town. Too busy sightseeing and they f*****g lost track of time. Arkyn told me they will catch an early dinner at Gotham South. We can chill in the living room until then", Abby answers as she sits down as well.

"You watch your mouth missy, I will wash it out with soap" Abby's mother scolded her. We all snickered at her when I heard a sweet voice coming into the dining room.

"Good evening Beta, I am glad to see you are out and about." Mrs Samuels came out of the kitchen with her trainee, Mia and two other omegas.

"Out, yes. About, not quite yet. I am still tired." I answer as I watch them put food down on the table. My mouth begins to water at the sight in front of me. Hearty beef stew with rice, her secret recipe of dinner rolls and warm cinnamon rolls with pecan nut icing.

"I made all your favorites for tonight dear. Enjoy dinner everyone. She leans in and gives me a kiss on the cheek, then turns to leave.

"Thank you mrs Samuels. I love you!!" I yell at her from the back. She waves me off and goes to clean up for the night.

"I don't know about all of you, but I sure am f*****g hungry as hell.

"Language young lady!" My mother yells at me from across the table. which in turn makes everybody laugh around us. The new ranked members have mouths that can make a sailor blush, and the parentals sure have their opinions on it. The rest of the dinner was light hearted and casual, which is something I definitely needed.

Since I woke up this morning, Shadow has been doing the zoomies in my head, making me dizzy.

The mental image of her spinning, jumping around in my head, basically chasing her tail is driving my crazy.

Shadow, what the hell is going on with you?

I don't know, I feel happy.

Well, will you please stop for once? You are making me dizzy and I am struggling to focus.

Awww, fine. She went to lay down with a whimper.

I still want to spin.

No. I can finally focus for once. If you calm down, I will take you out for a run as soon as I feel better, okay? and aren't you still suppose to be healing?

I don't know. I felt better the moment we stepped into the packhouse.

Okay, weird but okay.

Abby and Emily took the dishes to the omegas to wash, and we went over to the living room to relax with a bottle of wine.

Everyone, including Emily retired to bed, which I felt was strange, so it was just me and Abby drinking wine on the couch, talking with something we put on the television as background noise.

"What's up with Emily?" I ask as the cool wine goes down my throat. "She never goes to bed this early".

"I think its that time of the year again; we all know she gets very spaced out and isolated when it comes near the time of her parents death, I thought it would get better with time, but looks like that is not the case here." She stated with a sad tone, looking up at the stairs where Emily's floor is.

"Do you think she will be fine taking over the Gamma roll? If she is isolated for a few a weeks just becaue of what happened to her, there is a chance that we will struggle. We need her here with us, she can't lock herself up for two months every time the date draws near." I look at Abby, wondering why is Emily still like this. I get it, sort of. She told us she was fine and that she would start with her Gamma duties, but two years later everything is still the same.

"Just give her time. I'm sure with the Gamma powers she will receive, everything will get better. I think it may even help her heal from her past trauma. We just have to be there for here", she sighs.

"Yeah, I guess." We both sat in silence watching The Conjuring when Abby's phone rang. "Hey, you on the way back?"

I can hear Arkyn talking through the phone. "Cool, see you in a few." She ended the call.

"They will be here in a few minutes. They said Gotham South's food was good, but the pizza and wings of last night was better."

She laughed. "Pizza?" I raise my brow. "You had pizza and wings without me you cunt?" I throw a chip at her. "How f*****g dare you, Luna. That you decide to order pizza when your Beta is in a coma knowing full well the obsession she has with it." I slap her arm.

"Did you just throw a chip at me? You know assaulting your Luna is punishable by death right?" She slaps me back on my leg.

"The same rules apply to the Beta, or are you not up to date on your laws, Luna?" I throw a stab at her knowledge."That does it, b***h" She climbs over me and decides to start a tickle war. We were so busy that we didn't even notice that Arkyn and Dante were here because the next moment a growl resounded through the living room, saying the word I never thought I would hear in my entire life. Mate. Me?

Shadow started spinning again.

Calm down wolf.

Mate Mate. Mate.

What?

Infront of my eyes stood the most handsome man I have ever seen in my life. The moon goddess must have made a mistake. This man can't simply be mine and mine alone. His piercing baby blue are looking straight at me. His jaws are angular with edges. The short brown hair with shaved sides are making me heat up. Covered from head to toe in tattoos, he looks like a bad boy that likes to create trouble wherever he goes. My whole body wants him, craves him.

Before I could even take a step towards him, Abby steps in front of me.

When they stepped into the room, I knew something was different, but with who I couldn't tell. When they stepped into the living room it was something out of the twilight zone.

Dante said mate when he saw Kat, and his eyes turned black, his wolf completely taking over his sense to control his actions. I saw him rush towards Kat.

"Arkyn, grab him!!" Arkyn let go of everything that was in his hands. Luckily he was standing infront of him, turning around by his wolf speed and grabbing Arkyn by his waist, pulling him back.

"Na-uh!!" I look at Dante trying to fight his way out of Arkyn's arms. "You will calm the f**k down first. I will not have you pinning her against the floor and dry humping her. She is still fragile and tired" I gave him a stern look. Arkyn whispered something in his ear and he seemed to calm down, his eyes turning back to its normal baby blue colour. "I'm calm now." He told me, looking down.

"Now you will slowly go to her. Just be gentle." Arkyn let go of him and he slowly walked to Kat, kneeling infront of her.

I went over to stand with Arkyn, and I let out a small gasp when he grabbed onto my waist while he was standing behind me. I didn't expect him to do that, but I'll allow it. Sensing that I'm comfortable with the sudden surprise, he leaned in closer to me, his whole body pressing into my back. Leaning in closer to my ear, he whispered "Can I hug you tighter?"

"Are you hearing me complaining?" I whisper back, keeping my eyes on the couple in front of me. "No, I just want do make sure it's fine with you." I tilt my head slightly. "Go ahead" and he pulls me in closer, his hands crossing over each other around my entire waist. "Thank you" he whispers again, but this time his hot breath so close to my neck is making me shiver with his touch.

"For what exactly" I ask, turning my head slightly, looking at him with a smile, "For allowing this. What I'm doing now."

He says back softly.

"And what if I want you to do more?"
